  1. Would have been GREAT to see Television there! Read the review: A Band With Some History Brings Heft to the New Place in Brooklyn
  2. Thanks, kids! I guess it's actually a Birthukkahturkeyday, or Birthgivingukkah, or Thanksgivinkahbirthdaykah, or ...? Quite a confluence of "things", that's for SURE.
  3. I used to collect them, but decided that it wasn't worth it and recycled them a few years ago when I moved.
  4. I got mine, too. Didn't know if they had pared down the mailing list or just reduced the number of catalogs being sent. Sounds like it's the 2nd reason.
  5. One of my favorite Mosaics. Listened to disk #2 last night.
  6. Thanks for the heads up. I always liked the Carnegie Hall album, too.
  7. Definitely. After seeing her outstanding performance with Jason Moran the other night, I was struck once again by the fact that she has one of the most distinctive voices and unique senses of phrasing in jazz (or whatever kind of music you want to call it). For some reason I stopped listening to her several years ago, but plan to revisit her now.
  8. Not jazz in the 'classic' sense, but very creative and related to jazz legends - Pyeng Threadgill and Neneh Cherry
  9. I know about Randy and Billy - I still have "Carnival" on Freedom from '75. What I meant was, I'm not sure how Randy and Jason together is going to work.
  10. Just saw the Jason Moran w/ Cassandra Wilson show tonight. A remarkable performance - spectacular, understated, emotional, dynamic........all at once. The communication between the two was electric and you could sense a special musical event unfolding as the night progressed.
  11. Saw Jason Moran w/Cassandra Wilson tonight. Remarkable performance - just the two of them.
  12. Saskatchewan Roughriders - 30
  13. That's going to be good, Mike. I saw Billy with the Randy Weston Trio at Yoshi's 4-5 years ago. Great show. They're playing SFJazz on Sunday with Jason Moran (somehow). Would have gone, but ticket prices for that are sky-high. Good for Randy and Billy, though.

    Spirit

Yeah, Kapt Kopter is interesting. Not sure it's a GREAT album, but worth a few dollars if you can find it. You should get Clear and 'Family' to round out the collection, for sure. Clear is a little more jazzy than the others and 'Family' has their classic tune "I Got a Line on You". Spirit of '84 is interesting - recorded in '82, they re-recorded many of their early tunes plus a few new ones. It's actually pretty good. The first Jo Jo Gunne album is a must-have, if you like the rockin' side of Spirit.
  15. Seeing 2 Jason Moran events this week at SFJazz: - Jason Moran Listening Party, Nov 20 - Jason Moran w/ Cassandra Wilson, Nov 22 Next Monday: SFJazz to Host Obama for DNC Fundraiser - Not going to this one. A little out of my price range.
  16. I remember when some of those albums briefly showed up on eMusic.
  17. I picked up the live album a few years ago, but never really listened to it. Got it on now. Thanks for the thread.
  18. Television from Tuesday night.
  19. It's your birthday...............AGAIN??? Hope you had a great one, Connnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
  20. Just a week before Miles' historic run of shows there.
