  1. That's why I live here.
  2. Just got back from seeing Albert Lee at Yoshi's. VERY impressive guitar playing, as well as a very sharp band.
  3. Have seen him a couple of times with the SFJazz Collective, but not with his own group. Always seems very inventive.
  4. Summer in San Francisco................low 60s.
  5. http://www.sfjazz.org/events/season2 Yes, it's quite an extensive program. The prices seem to have gone up, too, but I guess that's to be expected. Today I picked up tix for Jason Moran/Cassandra Wilson this Fall and Wayne Shorter next Spring. Will get more I'm sure, as money allows.
  6. Anyone listen to Tempest - early 70's Jon Hiseman band? The first album (S/T) featured Allan Holdsworth; second album (Living in Fear), Ollie Halsall. Mark Clarke is also in the band, so it's definitely got a Colosseum sound to it, too. The first album I've listened to for years and years, but I just recently found "Living in Fear" on eMusic and like it a LOT. Check 'em out, prog-heads!
  7. Plant with "his" Patty Griffin
  8. 'LIghthouse' was recorded by Dino Lappas, produced by Francis Wolff.
  9. While there are definitely some fine BN live recordings, I don't think BN was particularly known for their live output in general. Maybe RVG preferred the studio atmosphere?
  10. Interesting critique. I have vague recollections of that show and have always thought I would like to see it again.
  11. Finally getting around to watching this - "dry humour" is right! Seen about 4-5 episodes now. Very much a typical Chris Guest production, but with a little more edge - almost a Ricky Gervais-like awkwardness.
  12. Hope you had a GREAT one Barak!
  13. Yes, sad news indeed. I guess that means we'll never get to hear those Horo albums reissued on CD. Or.........maybe it means we WILL.
  14. Not jazz, but the Roxie Theater is screening "Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me", a doc about the band for that whole week. Otherwise I don't have anything on my calendar then. Looks like a pretty weak week. Unfortunately, Yoshi's has scaled it's jazz bookings WAY back over the past couple of years.
  15. With his trio or solo? Either way, I'm sure he was great.
  16. Might have gone OOP 6-7 years ago. "We" discussed it in 2007.
  17. I got mine just before it went OOP from a friend who works for Sony Pictures. He was able to get it for me internally for around $90+. Glad I did ...
  18. Would love to see them release Coryell's "Barefoot Boy"
  19. Sounds promising.
  20. ... but 32 Jazz was know for their awful covers. Great music, though! Original:
