  1. Curtis Amy Select - disk 1
  2. I saw that Watson/Schnitter/Ponomarev edition a few times, too. VERY under-rated.
  3. Looks like it, Jim. They got inspired and decided to blow the roof off of Rudy's living room!
  4. Today is the 50th anniversary of this recording.
  5. Carmell Jones - disc 1 MAN, I keep forgetting how great Harold Land was!
  6. Wow, you guys are going REAL "Hoffman" on us here. [not that there's anything wrong with it]
  7. A very sad piece in the NY Times today. Especially in light of the fact that neither he nor any of his friends or loved ones were able to do anything. It's not like there was any secret that he was in trouble. A Complicated Actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman, in His Last Days

Here's a pretty good take on the commercial: Bob Dylan Didn't Sell Out to Sell Chrysler And here's another commercial he did.........42 years ago!

Not to mention that despite all the "USA USA USA"-ness of the ad, Chrysler is owned by Fiat.

Bob looks like he's had a fair amount of "work" done (or at least some Botox injections).
  12. Amazon US now has pre-order on this for $41.44. I went ahead and placed it. If it comes further down before release they will give you the lower price, too.
  13. Revelatory Archive of a Giant of Jazz Library of Congress Acquires Max Roach’s Papers
  14. The Complete Mercury Max Roach Plus Four Sessions - disks 1 & 2
  15. Congrats on the new acquisition, Lon! Looks like you got a real winner! Sometimes it's worth it to pay up for something you know will improve your joy of playing. I was surprised at the prices of his guitars - MUCH more reasonably priced than I would have guessed considering the workmanship that obviously goes into each one.
  16. Same here. I don't change strings as often as I should, but am always amazed how much better the guitar sounds after I do. ... maybe I'll do that TODAY!
  17. I picked up the 'stereo' box of UK releases a few years ago, and that's more than enough for me. I grew up listening to the American versions ("Rubber Soul" might have been my first record), but with one exception I'm not desperate to hear those versions again. I DO want to get the US version of "Help." The incidental music was an integral part of the album for me, and I probably haven't heard that stuff in about 40 years. I have a friend who's a Beatles collector, so anything I need to know or hear I can get from him. He buys EVERYthing!
  18. Jazz drummer, DJ Bud Spangler dies at 74
  19. RIP, Bud. Definitely a Bay Area institution.
