  1. Tomorrow (Monday, 10/20) - Patti Smith at the recently renovated Warfield Theater, here in SF. She always puts on a good show, IMO.
  2. Jeff Beck Group, Foghat, Argent - Hollywood Paladium, 1972. "Technically" it may not have been the loudest show, considering improvements in PA systems over the years, but it sure felt like it at the time.
  3. "Late November" is a welcome addition. While not terribly different from the "Northstar" version, it's still nice to hear.
  4. This is a surprisingly strong album from start to finish. It really doesn't sound like a bunch of left-overs. Well worth picking up for any Fotheringay/Denny/Fairport fans.
  5. This is a pleasant surprise! Not quite as good as the first, but considering how little is out there for this group, it's WELL worth a DL.
  6. Vertical's Currency is a good place to start. ... and, yes, that's Jack Bruce on the cover. He's a "regular" on Hanrahan's albums.
  7. FWIW, that album is available on eMusic.
  8. DL-d BH today. That's a no-brainer. Also 3 Vee-Jay albums showed up. Irene Kral "Kral Space" Bill Henderson "Complete Vee-Jay Recordings, Vol 2" Yusef Lateef - S/T
  9. I've downloaded several Mermen albums. If you like instrumental, psychedelic/surf music, they're certainly worth checking out. There are some Mission of Burma shows there, too.
  10. Saw that. What's his story? (other than son of ...)
  11. That wouls be fun. Where is that? Allan, she has a lot more going on than one line from one song. And I think she's pretty great live. UCSB In February. Part of series which also includes Sonny Rollins. THAT'S interesting. I need to go to SB sometime in the next several months on personal business. That might be a good excuse to make that trip.
  12. Hoping to get to the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in GG Park tomorrow. As the name implies, it's not strictly a bluegrass festival. Check out the link.

    Mingus Big Band

I've seen them at Fez and twice at Yoshi's. Always a great performance. I haven't seen them at Iridium, but didn't care for the place the one time I was there. Very glad that they have relocated to Jazz Standard, which is much more "user friendly".
  14. I've got tix for 10/20 here in SF.
  15. More Adams/Pullen today as well as several more Timeless albums.
  16. Today's Timeless stuff is nice, too. As mentoned, couple of Adams/Pullen sets ("Moon Beams" SMOKES!). Also Timeless All Stars (Hutcherson, Fuller, Land, Walton, Higgins, Buster Williams) "Timeless Heart", Woody Shaw, John Hicks and some late-era Blakey. Oh, yes......and Eastern Rebellion 2 (the original already showed up) w/Bob Berg instead of George Coleman. VERY nice album.
  17. Yes.........to everything you said.
  18. A bunch of Timeless albums arrived today, including George Coleman, Bill Evans, Mick Nock (W/M. Brecker), Rick Laird (w/Joe Henderson), Tete Montuliu, Chet Baker and others.
  19. FWIW, I've been keeping an eye on Amazon MP3 downloads and they frequently have at least a couple of albums available for $1.99. That price only lasts for a day or two so you have to be fast. The other day I DL'd Jackie McLean's "Fickle Sonance" for that price. Right now you can get "Live At The Regal" by B.B. King.

    Muse Records

    LPs or CDs?
  21. I'm sure they're worried. BTW.........anyone interested in an MP3 download of "A Fickle Sonance" - it's on sale today for $1.99 at Amazon.
  22. Does it seem like BMG is getting desperate lately? I've been bombarded with "deals" on a weekly basis for the past month or two. With sales of CDs dropping precipitously, they must be starting to wonder where their future business is coming from.

    Jimi Hendrix

Yes.......worth getting. It's basically an expanded version of "Cry of Love" and "Rainbow Bridge". Supposedly, it's the next album he intended to release. If you like those albums, you'll like this. For Band of Gypsys fans, I would also highly recommend (I think Lon would, too) the Dagger release "The Baggy's Rehearsal Sessions". These are very loose and fun jams that the band did in advance of the New Year's shows. Pretty decent quality recordings, too. If you're familiar with "Loose Ends", some of that album was taken from these sessions.
  24. Glad you rode it out OK, Agg!
  25. No hitter is crazy enough, but the fact that they were the "visiting" team against the "home" team Astros in Milwaukee in a stadium filled with Cubs fans is just SURREAL.
