  4. Heard some good things about "East/West" and ordered it today from BMG ... cheap. Anyone else like it?
  5. Oy. Yet ANOTHER Hutcherson album I guess I'll have to get. I've got some catching up to do with Bobby. ← Good luck finding it. I had to pay something pretty (and that's a lot for a young cat). Worth it, though (it's basically the Medina/Spiral band w/J. Spaulding in place of Harold Land). ← Hmmmmmmmm. Well, there's one on ebay now for $14.49 + $6 shipping from Japan. I'll keep an eye on it.

  9. For raw, hard swingin' emotional playin' I like the Charles Tolliver LPs "Live At Slugs" vol 1 & 2 on Strata East.. Stanley Cowell-piano, Cecil McBee-bass, & Jimmy Hopps-drums swing with great passion on these sides! Jimmy Hopps kind of reminds me of Chicago drummer Wilbur Campbell. ← FYI randissimo, those albums are on disk #1 of the Mosaic set in addition to some unreleased tracks from the same dates on disk #3. ← Thanks for the info BFrank.. I'll have to get the box set.. ← Oh, yeahhhhhhhhh. Disk #2 and part of #3 are from the "Live in Tokyo" set. Almost as smokin' as the Slugs stuff.
  10. ... or something.
  11. I saw him about 15 years ago in Central Park. It WAS intense!

  13. Anyone ever say you have too much money? ← Well...........it was my girlfriend's idea. Anyway, that was last night. I would say that they were 1/2 good. They definitely are bumping up against John Tesh territory on some of their songs. Some of the early tunes from their classic period (60s/70s) still hold up, though. Mercifully, they only played a couple "new" tunes which were not very good. I was amazed at the enthusiasm of the crown, though. They definitely have a STRONG following and got 'standing Os' after almost every song.
  14. Don't forget "Grand Max" (which isn't on here, unless I'm mistaken). ← Nope........not mistaken.
  15. Don't tell anyone, but I'm going to see the Moody Blues tonight.

  23. Harold plays regularly with George Coleman and is on a number of his albums, too. And let's not forget his incendiary piano on Lee Morgan's "Live at the Lighthouse" set.
