  1. Someone just got a deal! Anita O'Day
  2. A Larry Young set just sold for $215. The CDs and booklet were excellent/mint, so I guess the "discount" was because of this: ... while the box is good except for the binding on the left side, which has the letters mostly torn off. If not, there is some sort of a slump in the value of this set.
  3. Mike - You don't give him credit for assuming that everyone knew he was referring to the "classic quartet"?
  4. Yet another Lee Morgan at about $50 per ...
  5. For a totally different take on KJ, check out "Expectations". Sure, he's got 'the hair' and a tie-dye t-shirt, but with Charlie Haden, Paul Motian, Sam Brown, Dewey Redman and Airto you have some quality music, too.
  6. The "MD in Europe" and "Four & More" sets AREN'T amazing??
  7. "Facing You" is a nice single album of solo Keith. That's about as much as anyone probably needs.
  8. FWIW, eMusic has the entire "Ethiopiques" series.
  9. Another Larry Young that went for less than $300. There seems to be a diminishing value on this. OTOH, this Jackie McLean sold for nearly $250. That's over $60/disk! Maybe the supposed autograph had something to do with it.
  10. If you liked the music in the film "Broken Flowers", some of it is available on eMusic. That great, 60's-like tune with lazy female vocals that pops up a couple of times is on The Greenehornes' "Dual Mono" album. The tune is "There is an End", featuring the vocals of Holly Golightly. She has some albums there, too. I also found out that the haunting Etiopian music that you hear throughout (from Winston's CD) is there. It's on Ethiopiques Volume 4: Ethio Jazz & Musique Instrumentale 1969-1974.
  11. I like this album a lot. Definitely in the Strata East scheme of things. Let's not forget Andy Bey's appearance either!
  12. Thought so. It had that "look". Not to mention the black film border.
  13. I'm sure that pose/look was familiar to countless women who gave birth to his numerous children. ← Hey, I just like the picture. No more no less. ← It looks like it might be a Richard Avedon photo. Can anyone check that?
  14. William Parker's "Raining on the Moon" is a very enjoyable album. I've been listening to this one for a few months now.
  15. That's the only Mosaic deal of which I'm aware, and it's been around for months through several online retailers (including Tower and CD Universe). There was a great deal of discussion about it on the Board a few months ago, and quite a few Members took advantage of these deals (including me). Nobody in a position to know has yet explained why the Universal-distributed Farlow, unlike any other Mosaic, is so readily available at these heavily-discounted prices. ← Interesting ...
  16. Yeah. Can't wait for the Tal Farlow set to go OOP for that very reason. ← No need to pass on that one--an excellent set, by the way--when you can get a brand-new copy of the Universal-distributed version (identical to the one sold by Mosaic) from an Amazon Marketplace seller here (click on "used & new"), for less than half the cost if purchased from Mosaic. ← That's quite a deal. For $62.99 you can get it directly from Amazon, too. What else is out there?
  17. Just received this email: Domain outage: please read! Hello--we are having issues with our domain and the DNS servers. So for that reason, you may not be able to access the forum. For the time being, you CAN access is via the numeric IP address until this is resolved: http://66.39.28.179/forums/index.php We're working to resolve this as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!
  18. "Cannot find server" here, too.

Maybe they're doing some maintenance. The "home" page is all screwed up for me, although I can still search.
  20. That's EXCELLENT! Thanks for the heads-up, Garrett.
