  1. The SACD multichannel mix of this song actually de-emphasizes the cowbell a bit. It's there, but kinda muted. Bruce Dickinson would be sooooo disappointed.
  2. Undergroundagent, Yes please! If you can locate them, I'd love one as well. Thanks. This would be totally B) !
  3. John B/Mr. Furley, The same thing happened to mine a couple years back; not too long after purchasing it. I called the Sony quality control 800 number listed inside, and they sent me a new disc and an entire new box! You might get the glue off the disc this time, but it could happen again. Actually, I used the spare box to make someone else a copy; someone who would never be able to shell out for this set. I inserted a piece of paper down into the cd sleeve to hopefully cover the glue spot. Just FYI. Good luck!
  4. Hey Boris! Suck a few necks for me... Digusting!
  5. I've got the one Free For All mentions, and it's quite good. IMO. I'm really hesitant about picking up this new one though. There was even a special on A&E the other night featuring the making of this album; I wonder if it's the same program as on the dvd "Inside Sacred Love"? The tunes just weren't grabbing me, not like his stuff usually does. I like all of his solo albums, pretty much but so far nothing that I've heard from this set has any type of the immediacy or hooks that his music usually possesses. I'm really trying to resist picking up the SACD. I wonder if I'll win...
  6. Saint Vitus, Please hold the Jimmy Smith for me! Sending an email; thanks!
  7. Hmmm, what's she gonna do, all by herself... Sorry, but she's hot!
  8. You lucky dog! I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting some kind-hearted forum member to burn you a Disc 2. Enjoy!
  9. The two Larry Youngs on Prestige that kinuta mentions, the Jimmy Forrest set and others, the Bill Heid: all of these are available on emusic.com Thanks to the recs in this thread, I'm downloading all of those right now! B)
  10. Hey, thanks everybody. It's good to know that I'm not alone. I've just got to learn to appreciate what I've already got, instead of constantly being on the hunt. I mean, how much have I absorbed that Keith Jarrett Live at the Blue Note 6 cd box? Or the Sun Bear Concerts 6 cd box. And I just HAD to have 'em... I really enjoyed reading everyone's perspective and methods on this topic. Lots of food for thought. But then, Red Trumpet said my Dylan box set shipped yesterday! Whoo Hoo!
  11. That's great! He does sound like the record is skipping sometimes...
  12. SS1, With my account, I've downloaded so many albums, but have only burned selected ones. I'm nearly done re-downloading albums in the new VBR Lame encoded versions now available on most titles. But they're probably taking up 20-25 GB of my hard drive, so I'm also in the process of archiving the MP3 files to cd as well; 7-10 cds worth on one cdr. This is rather time-consuming and tedious as well. Well, it can be, especially if you end up combining several different artists onto one cdr. I'd like to regain some disk space, and would hate to lose them if something bad happened to my PC. But you're certainly free to do whatever you like with them. If you burn them to a regular audio cd, sure you could delete the mp3 files. But you could also back up the mp3s to cd as well, so you'd never have to re-encode them again. I've got more music now than I could possibly ever listen to, much less really get to know... Quite a predicament...but when I finally stop buying so many cds all the time (gee, when will that be...?) I'll have plenty to listen to and discover. Man, sometimes I wonder if I'm a music fan, or a just a music collector? And if so, how and when did that happen? Hopefully, it's just a phase.
  13. Wow, is that just opening it? With a little modulation, I'm sure you could get in at least 3 full choruses...
  14. I've never quite understood this practice. I head for the bathroom, WHEN I'm ready to go. I take care of business, and I'm outta there. It's not like I have to coax it out... you know "Please come out of my butt"! Oh, and I cannot believe we're discussing this...are you guy's bored, OR WHAT!?!
  15. Hey you guys, The best price for the complete box is at redtrumpet. Rick there is active at the Steve Hoffman board and has offered an additional discount throught that board. They are offering the set for $191, but if you add the words "Great White Wonder" to the "Comments" box during your checkout, they will subtract an additional $1 per title, so an extra $15 off to make it $176. That's what I did, just Wednesday night. The discount doesn't show up on the checkout, but you WILL receive the discount by the time they charge you. They've shipped initial orders but have sold out of their initial stock; more is arriving next week. So I'm patiently waiting... Go get 'em... Oh P.S. Plus, you get free shipping!
  16. Thanks couw! That's EXACTLY what I had in mind. Very cool. I think I'll make that one MY cover for this disc. BTW, I'm on the fence on buying this, because I have the Mosaic, but if everyone raves about the sound, I might get it. Though I'm real happy with the sound on the Mosaic. Is it just me, or does the sound on the Mosaic on the "Talkin' About" session just kill the 20bit remaster or what? I prefer the earlier mastering job over the reissue. That guitar on "People" just stands out to me more. Love it...puts ME in that "other place". B)
  17. And I had always hoped the new Mother Ship cover would make use of this photo, from the Mother Ship session. He's in that "other place"!
  18. Never noticed a problem with the sound on this one. Perhaps I'll give it a spin today... I recall the music as nice, but not groundbreaking. But, I'm not the best at picking stuff out on the first couple of listens...
  19. SS1, I can probably help you with the Avery software. Maybe we can chat this weekend. It works great! Later!
  20. Do it, Daddy-O!
  21. Way to go Mr. & Mrs. Alfredson!
  22. I've always heard about the "Booby" thing, but have never seen it. What issue was that misspelling on?
  23. I like Standard Coltrane. Nice vibe to this session, with Wilbur Harden, I think.
  24. Our Krups goes into a thermal carafe, which I really like. I think it helps maintain good coffee flavor, as opposed to resting on a burner. It makes 2 to 10 cups. It's stainless steel too; matches our kitchen appliances.
