  1. WHOA!!! Holy crap! More flat-out kick-ass stuff!
  2. Got back from my business trip last night and this was waiting for me, and it did have rust on it, Darn! might try to get it off. This thing is a monster of a set, but everything is in great shape; now I just have to start playing the music.
  3. It's SNOWING, Yea! I have to do an one-hour drive to the airport tomorrow... at four.... freaking....am.....CRAP! I don't think I'm going to make my meeting in Cali...
  4. Baseball pitcher/coke head not the guitarist.
  5. Thanks Dan, your last post got me over the top. Still not quite sure about everything, I think the problem is where I'm directing the file, when I finally got the files to the My Music files I was able to do everything. Going have to keep working on it. Thanks again.
  6. Actually, there as never any music in my house growing up. The T.V. was turned on in the morning, and left on all day. It was only in the retreat of my bedroom that any music was played.

    Funny Rat

I feel like getting back into that Funny Rat frame of mind. I notice that Jazz Loft has a HatHut Club -- is that a worthwhile deal, or just one of those "looks good but really isn't deals?" BTW, bought the Max Roach/Anthony Braxton duo recording last week -- WOW! but you guys knew that already.
  9. I'm all over the Hutcherson, never been disappointed by one of his albums -- pure class as a musician.
  10. Looks like the Redsox are down to JD Drew, my guess is five years at 90 million. Sounds crazy, but that's how the market is going.

    Anthony Braxton

This has been a long time favorite of mine (since I picked it up about 12 yrs ago on a whim) Been listening to One in Two-Two in One today, and it is an amazing disk. I really like how Roach plays here, wonderful how Roach clings to the rhythm that Braxton creates and deepens it, and challenges Braxton to take it to the next step. Braxton sounds great, inventive without wasted notes. One of those disks that you cds never get tired of.
  12. *Sigh* Very sad news. Such a wonderful singer.
  13. Can't say I'm sold on Matthews Jr. either. He was an average player for all his career, and then what, he gets vastly better. The only player that I can remember getting really better late in his career is Bill Robinson, the old Pirate guy. If this was a couple of years ago, and a player got that much better in a season.....
  14. This was, uh, shared, a while back on dimeadozen.org. Should check it out. Speaking of Dime, there's a twelve cd set up with Coltrane concerts. I would download, but I have to figure out how to burn bittorrent to cd.
  15. Sorry, don't have that one yet.
  16. I think Quincy has a good question there. I've noticed alot of folks make multiple posts when listening to a Mosaic box, one post for each disc. That could kind of skew the results... Aggie is saying that the Republicans are running this vote.
  17. I've been struck lately of how different Bill Evans: The Paris Concerts are from Turn Out The Stars, and there's only a seven month difference between the recordings. In Paris, Evans had a very classical sound, and Johnson and La Barbera are very much in the background. TOTS has a much more, what I would describe as a harder edge to it. Interesting. Don't know if it means anything, but interesting none the less. Evans is a fascinating study.
  18. Oh, excuse me, didn't realize I was at the Steve Hoffman Forum.
  19. Ideally: Go to the Post Office and my Complete Bill Evans of Verve is waiting for me. Go home, figure out how to burn bit-torrents, all the while, I'm listening to Evans. Reality: No Evans. My Computer crashes. Stale left-overs.
  20. You have Flac Frontend? Then A. Open it. B. Click Add Files C. Choose all of the files from a concert (you can click on one Flac file at the top, hold the shift key and click on the bottom file and you will select all of them) D. click "Decode" When Flac Frontend is finished, you will have wav files in addition to Flac files. Any CD burning program will recognize wav files. Be sure to burn "Disc at Once" so that the applause doesn't have two second gaps in between tracks. If you have a concert that are "shn" files (you'll know this if Flac Frontend doesn't recognize the files): Open Winamp Click File ----> Add Media to Library Choose all of the concert files Make sure they end up in the correct track order (you can click and drag to move them) Put a blank CD in your drive and click "burn". Thanks Dan, I'll copy this and on Friday see if I can make magic happen. I have some Dylan & Bill Evans/Lee Kontiz to burn... Good luck, and sorry for the heavy handedness of my initial response. I guess you really don't know what you're doing. I told you I was hopeless, and also... Wonder who said that....

  22. I've been fooling around with the stuff you listed -- still no luck. Friday, when I have a free day, I'm going spend all day, I necessary, to figure this out.
  23. I'm very happy with firefox, and I'm seriously considering getting out of Office and also going that Linux route. The unknown is always scary though...
