jeffcrom Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 Nick Brignola Sextet-------------Baritone Madness-----------(Beehive) Good line up with Ted Curson, Roy Haynes, Pepper Adams , Dave Holland and Derek Smith. Standard hard-bop but well played and recorded. Yeah, that's a good one. I went to a workshop over 30 years ago where Holland was talking about what a fun date that was, and how much he enjoyed playing with Roy Haynes. Benny Carter - Live and Well in Japan (Pablo). I wish Carter had recorded more on trumpet. His one solo on that instrument here had me shaking my head in wonder. Quote

And Electric Byrd is a gorgeous record. Quote

paul secor Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 After listening to the clip Jim posted, I had to listen to the entire record: Sonny Rollins: East Broadway Run Down (Impulse Japan) Elvin and Jimmy Garrison fit with Sonny better than I'd remembered. Quote
