While there's some sameness, there's plenty of nice stuff going on, mainly by Cohn and Newman of course, but trombonists Frank Rehak and Urbie Green have their spots, too, and Henry Coker (on the Green album only, alas) made my head turn several times ... also Gene Quill on Cohn's "Jazz Workshop" album, which closes the set (and I think is it's highlight). Not essential stuff by any stretch, not even very good all the way through - but enjoyable, Basie-inspired, swinging small group jazz. Quote
