sidewinder Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 Farmer/Golson Jazztet set, CD4 Now CDs 1 to 3 of this set. What a great box .... and great band ! and topped off with CD7. Golson's 'Take a Number From 1 to 10' and Farmer's 'Listen To Art Farmer & The Orchestra'. Two undervalued and excellent albums. Quote

ghost of miles Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 Duke Ellington, COMPLETE CAPITOL RECORDINGS. Supposed to be a weak period for Duke, but I still love a lot of the material in this set. Quote
golfcrazy1984 Posted June 2, 2014 Report Posted June 2, 2014 Listening to disk 3 of The Complete Roulette Live Recordings of Count Basie and His Orchestra. SWINGIN' Sadly, I don't think there will be another band like that. Bourbon in hand, and the new Armstrong set arriving tomorrow! Quote

sidewinder Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Sarah Vaughan Roulette box, CD1. Trying to work out who the front-line might be on the latter selections on this disk. I was thinking it could be a Thad Jones ensemble but, maybe not. Quote

Clunky Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 Anita O'day------disc 8------ Love Anita , so glad I bought this just as it went OOP. For years I was pretty dismissive of vocal jazz in general but that's all changed now. I'm hoping Mosaic manage a Chris Connor Atlantic set. they've made some positive noises about this in the past . Chuck Nessa Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 Woody Shaw Complete Muse, CDs 1 & 2. Predictably great set, in improved sound. Nice notes by Woody Jr. and first time I have heard the full 'Sun Bath' session. Great work, Mosaic ! I am curious about the "improved sound". Many years ago Joe Fields, owner of Muse, told me after running mixes of session tapes he had a studio willing to buy the multi-track tapes from him to bulk erase and use again. So, my question is; are there real balance differences or just "modifications" of the 2 track tapes? Quote

So, my question is; are there real balance differences or just "modifications" of the 2 track tapes? Not sure I can fully answer that one but to my ears there is more detail and depth present than on some of the old Muse and 32Jazz CDs I have. Edited July 10, 2014 by sidewinder Quote
