Dan Gould
And I feel not a hint of regret. I have the Vee Jay reissues, which sound fine to my ears ... about the only thing I'd be interested in would be the booklets and the bio/musical info contained therein. jazzbo
Pretty amazing how fast the sets now disappear when the internet jazz community starts calling attention to their status as running low! Dan, I was happy with the Blue Moon reissues as well, but the Mosaics sound better than I imagined they would in comparison!
Claude
I bought japan import CDs of Wayne Shorter's "Wayning moments" and "Second Genesis" (the only albums from the Mosaic set I really need) from Hans, and they sound much better than the Blue Moon CDs, which seem to have been made from inferior tape copies. I'm sure the Mosaic sounds at least as good as the japanese CDs, otherwise Hans wouln't have sold them
Brad
The Mosaic Vee Jays sound amazing to me. I never had any of the Japanese reissues so I can't compare. From a sound point of view, they're my favorite Mosaics.
Shawn
I have the Kelly/Chambers set but really wish I could have grabbed the other one, as I don't have any of the recordings contained in that set (other than The Young Lions). Oh well, sometimes food & shelter is more important than Mosaic sets!
Dan Gould
Dan, I was happy with the Blue Moon reissues as well, but the Mosaics sound better than I imagined they would in comparison! Well, I have to admit that, I knew in the back of my mind that if cash flow didn't allow a purchase before the lease expired (and with a new house, that was inevitable), and curiosity about the sound became overwhelming, I'd have options in the future (wink wink nudge nudge). jazzbo
From the way that set flew off the Mosaic site into a lot of homes of board members I would say. . . yesssssss. . . an option or two!
Stefan Wood
The Blue Moons were very nice, and I'm glad I bought them. But the Mosaics were such a leap forward in sound, that I sold the Blue Moons immediately. The difference is the depth of sound and spreading of instruments over the speakers -- much clearer and rich sounding.

Jazzmoose
So...now the question is: what's next to hit the "running low" list?

Uncle Skid
So...now the question is: what's next to hit the "running low" list? Uhhh... the J.J. Johnson box? Maybe? Man, I sure hope not!! Maybe the Mobley set is next?
LAL
The J J Johnson set should be around till next year. Maybe, the Teddy Wilson set?
jacknife
So...now the question is: what's next to hit the "running low" list? Hopefully, nothing for a while! My "last chance" fund is deeply in the red right now!
Jazzmoose
I'll go along with that, Jacknife...maybe we'll have a bit of "plastic recuperation time"...
Edward
I am pretty certain that the Teddy Wilson set will be the next endangered Mosaic. Fortunately, I already have it. Hopefully for the rest of you, it will last at least until the end of this year.

Jazzmoose
Well, I hate to bring down the wrath of Mosaicdom on my head, but the Teddy Wilson is one set I'm pretty sure I'll pass on. (And why am I already having regrets about posting this? )
Jazzmoose
Jazzmoose, are you nuts?? The Wilson set is absolutely essential! No true jazz fan would willingly do without this set!! (Just to save everyone time...)
