Bluerein
Didn't see too many postings about the 2 upcoming selects (Pacific Jazz Trio's & Charles Toliver). I'm going to buy them although I have most of the Tolliver and some of the Piano Trios (not the Clare Fischer's).
JSngry
Charles Tolliver? Guess I missed the news. What are you talking about?
tranemonk
clearly you know something we don't know... You got some 'splaining to do.... J.A.W.
The forthcoming Pacific Jazz Trios set has been discussed here before, though I can't find it right now.

J.A.W.
Jimmy Rowles' Pacific Jazz recordings will be included in the Trio set, so I did a search with his name and found these posts; many of the posts are about the Trio set. tranemonk
hmmm... now I'm definitely intrigued..... Anyone know when we'll be able to pre-order???? Hey and when is our "official email" from Mosaic (announcing some new stuff - presumably the Crusaders box... and MAYBE those two Selects>) due? Aren't we due to get one soon? tranemonk
I've been looking at the Charles Tolliver stuff over at amg.... nothing on Blue Note, Pacific Jazz or World Pacific... What the heck is going to be on that set? I see that he's released a lot of live stuff on his own label (Strata-East)... Do they work out an agreement with him to release that stuff??? But please tell they're NOT going to slice and dice and pull the stuff from the Jackie McLean box and use that??? details - details - details..... JSngry
Here's hoping that it's going to be a collection of unreleased live material ala the Liebman/Beirach.
Tony Pusey
It would really be good news if Mosaic were starting to compile and release the Strata East label!
Indestructible!
It would really be good news if Mosaic were starting to compile and release the Strata East label! ← Hell yeah it would! This Tolliver set has me really fired up... and I don't even know what the hell is on it yet! I look forward to seeing the description on Mosaic's website (soon, I hope!). Cheers, Shane
Bluerein
I thought I'd check first before I get replies with links to other threads which discuss it at length... The Tolliver will be Strata East material. All the small group recordings with the Music Inc. Band. The Live at Slugs vol.1 & 2 with three unissued tracks and the Live in Tokyo with three unissued tracks (taken from a video and in mono). I have the original issued CD's (Japanese imports of course) and like them a lot so I will be buying this set for the updated sound (Addey did the transfers from the original tapes) and the extra material. This is I'm sure the beginning of a lengthy and fruitful coorperation between Charles and Michael.

brownie
I'm short on those Tollivers. Will be looking forward to that Select
sidewinder
Me too. I've tortured myself over the years by not picking up the Strata East LPs (other than 'Impact'). This will fill the gap !
jazzbo
Wow, this is wonderful music, and this is going to be a bullseye Select!
mikeweil
Sorry but I can't see Mosaic release the Tolliver material when he reissues all of it, one after another, on his own label. No mention of this on the Tolliver website .... What is the source of this info?
BFrank
I've got "Slugs" (vinyl & CD) and "Tokyo" (CD), so it will be interesting to see what additional material is included. I'd hate to buy all this stuff again, but we'll see what the final box looks like.
Z-Man
I'm all over this the day it's released. I (shamefully) have none of this material in my collection, despite being a huge fan of Tolliver's work with Jackie Mac and Andrew Hill. jazzbo
My guess is that Reiner's source is Michael Cuscuna himself, he's been close to him lately!
JSngry
There's always the possibility that Tolliver is folding his operation...
Bluerein
There are always the unbelievers......Indeed Lon it's from MC himself.
