Tjazz Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Is ANY 3 CD set really worth this???? ($300 minimum bid, $450 buy-it-now) I'm not familiar with this set. What's the deal??? These Dexter Gordon's sold for under $300 about two months ago. Then all three sold for under $100 last month. Quote
Brad Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 That's totally nuts for this 3 cds of Dexter's. I've got 2 of the 3, which I got for about $40. Secondly, it's possible that these may be reissued as a Mosaic Select in the near future. But, if you've gotta have 'em, well I'm glad it's not my money. Quote
Brad Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Take a look at this auction for Jack Wilson's Easterly Winds, currently $46. I wonder if we can trust this seller. Some guy named weizen . Maybe I should think about selling my copy. Heck, I was lucky and only got it for $12 new! Quote
Adam Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Anybody need a Bumble Bee Costume for their pet Ferret???? You think I'm kidding???? God, if only I were!!!   I know someone with a ferret. I'd better forward her this. Quote
AmirBagachelles Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 (edited) I finally took the plunge, sold my first goods on Ebay two weeks ago, both using Buy It Now, a crack-like e-substance used by many Ebayers to enhance their short-term pleasure. Mmmmmmmmm, buyiiitttnowwww. I got $145 for the Don Cherry Mosaic CD set, $295 for the Blakey CDs. These prices are, to me, insane. Vinyl I can understand, but CDs? I can't, though I admit to paying $90 for the Cherry and $175 for the Blakey back in the day (mid-2000). Can someone please find and post the link to that Ebay sale of an "ass-kicking" as in if you win the seller comes to your house for a good stomping. Remember that classic? undergroundagent Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 That's freaking classic! Quote
BERIGAN Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 Now, this does look like a nice set. Elle Ftizgerald Sings the Gershwin Songbook If true, it's a real collectors item. from the auctionGeorge Gershwin's signature obtained from the Gershwin estate when the box was produced Hey George, our crystal ball says you are going to die before the lp era, mind signing your name a couple humdred times so we can stick the signatures in some box sets in the future? BERIGAN Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Huh?????? I think one needs to read this several times for it to make sense...let me know if I am right, cuz right now, my brain hurts! Quote
dova Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Hi Guys: I bought it for $76! It may sound crazy to some of you, but this is one of the few titles I'm looking for to complete my Blue Note collection which is mostly on cd, Mosaics, and Lps. I was bidding against a newbie with (0) feedback and everytime this happens, it costs me. I understand weizen has all of the jvrg series and that is quite remarkable. My friend brought over his Liberty Lp of Easterly Winds last night and it is an excellent session . If you haven't heard Garnett Brown blow excellent bone with Jackie and Lee before, your missing something special. Weizen, if I buy from you again, I'll try not to make it so noticeable to everyone. Happy Holidays and Great Listening ,and to all a Good 2004! Quote
Brad Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Dova, $76 is a lot but what the heck I've spent some big bucks before on a single cd. Hey, it's the holiday season, reward yourself Quote
Claude Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 $132 - a record for the Woody Shaw 3CD Mosaic set, which usually goes for $50-80. Quote
riverrat Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 $125 for Tina Brooks "Back to the Tracks" Japan import: Expensive Tina Brooks Quote

Next time Dova, we'll have a secret auction away from all these prying eyes. p.s. -- which instrument are you playing in your profile photo? Quote
PHILLYQ Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Today I saw a Jeff Beck live disc in mint condition recorded at B.B. King's club that has been bid up to $13.63. I bought it new last week for $9.99! Do these people look anywhere else? Quote

Son-of-a-Weizen Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 And people make fun of jazz collectors??? What in the world???? A 5-day listing that picks up 2,800 hits in the first 2 days? Impressive. Quote

Impressive. Please pardon my salty language, but Jesus Fucking Christ!!!!!!! $2,900.00 for a little toy "Hot Wheels" car??????? Now I've seen it all....... Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 $132 - a record for the Woody Shaw 3CD Mosaic set, which usually goes for $50-80. As long as the Shaw box hung around, without selling out (or "timing out"), I'm shocked to see one go for this much on eBay. Quote

Now I've seen it all....... Yes, but it's the magenta one! Get it? Wink, wink; nudge nudge. Magenta, eh? Do you see? Okay; me either... Quote
chris Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 You have to admit that it's pretty funny to see obsessive jazzers-- who would likely sell a testicle for an LP on their wish list that might have had thousands of copies issued at one point-- laughing at a high price for an item for which there are only possibly *6* in existence Quote
RDK Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 That *is* a rare color for that particular Hot Wheels model. There's been mucho discussion about it on the redline board that I'm on. (Yeah, I collect 'em, but only the cheap, non-magenta ones ). Quote
