chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 i know most of you will just disregard this plea but i wanted to express how i have brushed off nearly all pop since 1990 through the present- however there is a new cd from england by allison goldfrapp and her band GOLDFRAPP which is remarkable. Its called 'supernature'. i also attended the concert and i was very impressed because it is the 1st pop concert ive ever seen where the sonic quality of the live concert equalled the high production quality of the studio cd. even in the 80s when all these slick sounding lps were being produced-- in concert, it all still sounded more 'raw', etc. I highly reccommed "supernature" to those adventurous jazz fans who wish to go one step beyond every now and then-- if you buy only one pop cd this should be it! Swinger Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 I haven't heard that cd but I do have her cd "Felt Mountain".Wonderful music! Everyone should listen to it at least once. Quote
BERIGAN Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 You know, I was really hoping this was a serious thread, because I have seen her a couple of times on late night talk shows, and was very impressed each time(Long periods apart)...but of course, I couldn't remember what the goofy name of the group was. Then, I see the name again, but forget to see about getting the cd(s) Any more real recommendations???? Quote
fent99 Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 Felt Mountain is the most interesting musically tho she's moved towards electro disco with both the next ones, they're not bad though. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Damn, I was going to get that Lenny Kravitz disc I was thinking about, but okay. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 What if something else good comes out later in the decade, and I've already shot my wad on this one?? I think I'd better wait until it gets a lot closer to 1-JAN-2010 before taking the plunge. (And if something else gets the nod, there's always next decade.) Quote
Shawn Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 I hate pop music...so I doubt I'll be buying even one this decade.... Quote
