Stick to what you know best, and that is being a bitch. Would you buy a jazz record she puts her name on?

I wonder if she really knows anything about the artists that are on this CD?

Not me, and we can't receive her show in the UK.

:):tup

Can I assume all of you across the pond know about Martha Stewart and why we here in the US make fun of her?

Maybe not all of us, but some of us do know about Ms Stewart.

You guys are missing the whole point here. It's not what's ON the CD that matters, but rather how neatly and tastefully it's gift-wrapped. See the cover--DUH!

you guys have to stop the witch-hunt. martha is cool. how many of you wish you had wifes that could cook like martha. and dont believe for a new york minute that just cause shes all nice and mellow, that she cant be an animal in the bed because trust me she can get out of control just like anyone else. i rarely get a chance to view her show but when ive seen it it is the funnest show on television. you chill w/ martha and she makes all this whaky food. now dont get me wrong if i had to compare martha-living as a cooking show, compared to say giada, which i also rarely get a chance to see, giada wins hands down face out of the water

Well yeah, but I'd throw both of 'em out the second that Rachael Ray walked into the room.

Now, if you can handle so-called "big women", I personally think that Ina Gartner might be the biggest freak of 'em all.

Just a hunch...

All I can say is that I pray to God that neither of my brothers gets wind of this, or I am the guaranteed recipient of the gag Christmas gift to end all gag Christmas gifts.

(I know that some of those tunes aren't bad ... but in this case the only way to judge this gift is by the cover.)

Hey, I'm a big fan of the Thornhill band, and the main reason is the chance to hear some of Gil's early work. His arrangements of the Bird tunes (Anthropology, Donna Lee and Yardbird Suite) show a remarkable assimilation of the bebop language, right on the heels of the debut of these tunes. Most importantly, they bear the stamp of Gil's own personality. Kind of like hearing Thad's Basie charts before Thad started his own band.

Buster's Last Stand, There's A Small Hotel, Arab Dance, La Poloma, The Song Is You and others. All great stuff. Very "visionary" IMHO. :tup:g

I did a slightly skewed version of Snowfall on my CD. My dad requested that I include that tune. I then kind of screwed with it a bit (harmony, meter; as arrangers are wont to do :) ), and when I played it for him he was a bit perplexed. But he eventually warmed to it.

The fact that this post came about on a thread about Martha Stewart is a bit embarrassing.

It's a great tune (have you heard Bobby Hutcherson's Jamal-icized/Poinciana-cized version?) and I too love that band (even a lot of the non-Gil charts got a thing going that's pretty damn cool).

But Tex Freakin' Beneke? :bad:

That's just wrong...
