tranemonk Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Check it out!!! http://mosaicrecords.com/futureprojects.asp I'm so THERE! Quote
jazzbo Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Really? I'm with Clem on this one. . . a few of these albums are very good but. . . . This is low down on my list. I'll order the Ruby Braff Single. Quote
Tony Pusey Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Cant recall a Mosaic announcement which has been greeted here with such an underwhelmed response! Quote
J Larsen Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 My feet remain firmly planted on the ground. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Cant recall a Mosaic announcement which has been greeted here with such an underwhelmed response! Originals of Q's Mercury albums pop up frequently and they're not expensive. Quote
JSngry Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Well, ya' know, the guy was a good arranger and all, but other than the side w/Mingus LT et al, and maybe that Impulse! side, I don't really know that there's anything there other than "good arrangements well played", which is all well and good, but hell, this ain't Oliver Nelson we're talking about... Stefan Wood Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 (edited) I'd be more excited by an Argo/Cadet box of any of the following - Ahmad Jamal, James Moody, or a compilation of sorts by Barry Harris, Richard Evans, Kenny Burrell, John Young, Chubby Jackson, etc., something thematic that could fit a bunch of different sessions that have not seen the light of cd (in the US). Hot Ptah Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 It will probably be Mosaic's fasting selling box. Quote
J Larsen Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 I keep waiting for them to announce the alleged Braxton Arista box. Quote
Eric Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Not to hijack the thread, but I would love to see a Muse set featruing Junior Cook, Bill Hardman, Mickey Tucker and Walter Bishop Jr. There are maybe 10 lps from these artists and a lot of sharing of personnel. I have it all on lp - great stuff!! Quote

I think many of his 60s soundtracks rank up there with Lalo, Oliver, etc., but they're not part of this box. Quote

Never bought the record, though, so I don't know how it stands up away from Rod Steiger (and that other fellow). MG Quote
JSngry Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Agreed. And how many soundtracks are being included in this set? Quote

Jay Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 I keep waiting for them to announce the alleged Braxton Arista box. The latest is "hopefully" next year. I've been told that for years. Quote
Brad Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 Can't say the Jones box blows me away but might be nice. Quote
brownie Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 The Ruby Braff 'Hi-Fi Salute to Bunny' album was already reissued in 1994 by RCA/BMG Germany with the additional bonus track 'Did I Remember' on the CD. I'll skip that one. But will be looking for the Quincy Jones set. By the way, Roland Kirk is featured on the soundtrack of 'In the Heat of the Night'. Quote
Christiern Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 Sad to say, Quincy took credit for more arrangements than he actually wrote himself. I wonder if the liner notes will be honest enough to point that out? Quote
