Roger Farbey Posted May 2 Report Posted May 2 Decca has released today a vinyl reissue of The John Cameron Quartet's Off Centre featuring Harold McNair, Danny Thompson and Tony Carr. I think it's only ever has a CD reissue on Vocalion. The album's reissue was curated by the inimitable Tony Higgins who also wrote new sleeve notes. Quote
adh1907 Posted May 5 Report Posted May 5 Shame Vocalion Dutton gave up on modern jazz. At one stage they had a great British jazz catalogue, excellent production values. Quote
adh1907 Posted May 13 Report Posted May 13 Does anyone know what became of that incredible website henrybebop.co.uk? It was a source of very detailed information on the UK bop jazz scene, with huge amounts of info on the most obscure UK boppers. It seems to have disappeared, such a shame. I was looking up Ronnie Ball and the links are broken. Terrible. Quote

You can still access an archived version from June 2024 here: https://web.archive.org/web/20240616224949/henrybebop.co.uk/ Quote
adh1907 Posted May 14 Report Posted May 14 Thanks, but that didn’t seem to work for me. There must be somewhere on here familiar with ‘Henry’ and his brilliant website. Shame if it’s no longer easily accessible, there was a mass of detailed information there. Quote

mjazzg Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago I successfully ordered from the link in my post, just before I posted. Just checked now and was able to add to basket from here https://ukstore.everythingjazz.com/products/trio-vinyl-exclusive-art-card?_pos=2&_sid=4071f78cd&_ss=r Hope you manage to track them down. It might be worth checking Juno or Honest J's as I'm sure both will stock them at some point. Quote
Seven8H Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago It worked fine for me... maybe a cache clearing thing? I can't see these anywhere else at the moment - if I do find them elsewhere I'll drop a link here. Quote

I did try Honest Jon's earlier (been buying from them for a few years now) - not listed yet Did eventually manage to get the 2LPs into a basket but the shipping to Australia is a killer ie £52 for 2LPs!!! that's over $110 Australian (only option is DHL express) - hopefully other shops will carry & this won't to be a limited release Edited 6 hours ago by romualdo Quote
sidewinder Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago My order has gone through OK, no problems. There is a 25% discount offer for first orders. Doesn't apply to pre-orders alas but it did allow me to pick up the new Kenny Burrell 3LP Tone Poet at a decent price. Quite a lot of overlap with the Blue Note UK store in terms of their inventory so all part of the same Universal UK operation by the looks of it. The two new Mike Taylor LPs will be 'play' copies. I have both the Lansdownes in originals but this allows me to keep them under wraps. Quote
