colinmce Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Miles Bootleg Vol. 2 is available from WOW HD for $15.99 with free shipping.http://www.wowhd.us/CD/miles-davis-miles-davis-quintet-live-in-europe-1969-3cd-dvd/dp/32012157#bc=9de5 I received mine today. It's a reputable site (used to be called CD-Wow). How long did yours take to arrive. Still waiting for a shipping notice a week later. Quote
tranemonk Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Amazon has Ella's The Concert Years 4 CD set on sale through Newbury Comics for $14.99. I know it's her later recordings but I've been into Ella a lot the last few weeks and $15 is ridiculous. http://www.amazon.com/Concert-Years-Ella-Fitzgerald/dp/B000000XHT/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1363188004&sr=1-1&keywords=the+concert+years Quote

Not impressed so far. HDwow still advertises the set for $15.99 with 7-10 days for shipping. Nothing about being a back ordered product. Quote

I ordered on Feb 22, received confirmation right away, and it came March 6, so 12 days total. I don't know what the stock/fulfillment time situation may be since then, but the price is so good it's probably worth waiting it out, especially since we know they've actually been fulfilling orders on something that I thought at first to be a price mistake. mjazzg Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Hope everyone's faith is realised as I've just ordered it from their UK site at £10.49 - really too cheap to believe Quote
colinmce Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Still can't quite beat when bestbuy.com listed the Coltrane Side Steps box for $13. Quote
Bright Moments Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Pop Market has the Van Cliburn complete album box set for 49.99. Thanks Lon!!! I jumped on this!!!! Quote
Matthew Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Any thoughts on this Bill Withers box? Not jazz, exactly, but his hits have a nice feel to them. 9 discs, $23.30 from an Amazon reseller: I did't see this until today, but by all means, get this box set if you haven't yet, I have enjoyed it immensely since I purchased it, great music runs through every album. Bob_Bobson Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Apparently, I'm very late to the party on this (I discovered several threads on this subject from around 2010-2011 after the fact), but there are a few Mosaic sets available on iTunes at a steep discount. In particular, Stanley Turrentine is $19! That is impulse-buy territory. Should I be boycotting this, however, in solidarity with Mosaic? Quote
Bob_Bobson Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Solidarity it is, at least so long as the sets are still in print. Gotta support the people who make the sets possible in the first place. http://talkingnewmedia.blogspot.com/2011/08/keeping-catalog-alive-in-itunes.html Quote
jazzbo Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 My guess is that this is EMI just finding another outlet for the product so I'm not sure anyone is "betraying Mosaic" by buying some of these files. I wouldn't do it, but that's because I don't like digital files more than anything else. Quote

I can live with the digital files, as long as they are stored on a compact disc and placed in a numbered black box with a big picture book. ;-) Quote

ornette Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) Completely off topic but I've never understood why the iTunes store has never allowed searching by record label. On Amazon UK search on mp3 music/'blue note'/mp3 albums/price 'high to low' to find a few box set equivalents. Edited March 22, 2013 by ornette Quote
colinmce Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 There is a Jazztet Mosaic at Reckless.com for $150. Not a bad price for a scarce one. Quote

As someone who resold a bunch of discs like Milestones, Someday My Prince Will Come for the remasters some 12 years ago or whenever it was, that just blows my mind? I hope there are a few lurking with 5 quid in pocket who decide maybe just maybe I should check this Miles guy out more in depth. Quote
sidewinder Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 (edited) For anyone in the UK, that deal is effectively a freebie, as the postage would be at least £5. Unbelievable ! Miles Davis on Columbia quantitative easing perhaps? Edited March 27, 2013 by sidewinder Quote
