BFrank Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 What everyone else said. That Tolliver set is a MUST MUST MUST have!
sidewinder Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 The Charles Tolliver set is great - recommended ! Looks like the Helen Merrill single has been and gone..
mjzee Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 I ordered the Tolliver...I remember enjoying his Strata-East records back in the day.
JSngry Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 Got the message yesterday. already had the Tolliver, but did get the Merrill, which I had passed on until now. I tend to like Helen Merrill far more often than not, but am willing to let her catalog envelop my shelf space slowly but steadily and gradually build in an almost Tantric-like manner. Seems like the way it should be done with Helen Merrill.
ElginThompson Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 Just ordered the Tolliver ... to soothe the pain until the Mingus arrives.
felser Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 Just ordered the Tolliver ... to soothe the pain until the Mingus arrives. It'll do more than that.
coooltrane Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 The Tolliver just showed up yesterday. Sounds pretty great on first listen. Lot of depth to this music. Warrants repeated listens I think.
JSngry Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 The Helen Merrill was good. Walks a fine line between this and that, but always just on the right side, at least for me.
BFrank Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 The Tolliver just showed up yesterday. Sounds pretty great on first listen. Lot of depth to this music. Warrants repeated listens I think. Warrants repeated listens ... for SURE!

David Ayers Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 I hope everyone that wanted it, got it. More likely that people who never wanted it before got it anyway when it went last chance...
mjazzg Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 I hope everyone that wanted it, got it. More likely that people who never wanted it before got it anyway when it went last chance... and they'll be enjoying a very rewarding musical surprise.....when they open the box
David Ayers Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 I hope everyone that wanted it, got it. More likely that people who never wanted it before got it anyway when it went last chance... and they'll be enjoying a very rewarding musical surprise.....when they open the box Not when they find out that played backward through the ventilation shaft of a derelict mill in Oregon a satanic voice can be clearly heard to say 'The Omen. It will scare your pants off. In Theaters now.' It's a period thing. Nah only kidding. I'm sure it will look good on the shelf with all the other unopened box seets. Or is that just me?
