From that Stuttgart event I have the following broadcasts from the former radio Stuttgart on reel and cassette tapesin the collection beside about 30 ore more tapes with Kenton but havent digitized the material yet. Could you list the tracks on that CD so I can compare them with material ..... and thanks for that Information. Do you know the website from Terry Vosbein "All things Kenton"? Was in touch with hin some years ago when he started to build up this project and supplied a lot of Kenton material from my Down Beats. Greeting from the Rhine river W. You can't go wrong with Sonny Simmons. I still need to need to post in the Simmons thread with some recommendations. Now playing: This is pretty much my go-to Pops. Quote
jazzbo Posted October 12, 2020 Report Posted October 12, 2020 Candice Hoyes "On a Turquoise Cloud" I like this one. Has a real Ellingtonian feel. Quote
jazzbo Posted October 12, 2020 Report Posted October 12, 2020 (edited) Back to this one. It's fun to hear the Ed Motta influence. And it freaks me out how the bass guitar that is recorded by itself at the beginning of track 3 is so realistically presented in the room. Guida de Palma & Jazzinho "Atlas" produced by Ed Motta. jazzbo Posted October 12, 2020 Report Posted October 12, 2020 And this one again. Before it was a headohone listen and I have it via the main system now. Keith Jarrett "Tokyo '96" ECM cd. Quote
Gheorghe Posted October 12, 2020 Report Posted October 12, 2020 Great, such a wealth of music here. Very fine solos by the leader himself and all musicians involved. No one else than Elvin could have composed "Elvin Jones Blues" and no one else than his wife Keiko could have composed "Doll of the Bridge", and there are very fine ballads with only the piano and guitar soloing , the pianist Fumio Karashima is very fine. And not forget Carter Jefferson, Dwayne Armstrong, Andy McCloud and guitarist Marvis Horne, all of them such great players. Quote
duaneiac Posted October 12, 2020 Report Posted October 12, 2020 Disc 3 of 3, which features recordings "In An Afro Cuban, Bossa Nova, Calypso Groove". Quote
