Al Azraqayn by KARKHANA

8PzU688.jpg

KARKHANA are:
Mazen Kerbaj: trumpet, objects, electronics
Umut Çağlar: double reeds, bamboo flutes
Sam Shalabi: oud, electric guitar
Sharif Sehnaoui: electric guitar
Maurice Louca: organ, synthesizer
Tony Elieh: electric bass
Michael Zerang: drums, darbouka

That looks interesting.  i have a very good Maurice Louca album somewhere with a similar instrumental line-up, 'Elephant', iirc

Gonzalo Rubalcada Trio "Supernova" Blue Note cd

Supernova_-_Gonzalo_Rubalcaba.jpg

Gonzalo Rubalcaba on piano, bassist Carlos Henriguez, and drummer Ignacio Berroa

This is perhaps a more traditionally Cuban album than the others of his I have heard. Nice recording!

:tup My favorite Evans recording. I spoke with Ryan Truesdell after a concert in Toronto several years ago and discovered that it was his, too.

Mine too, at least as far as "pre-electric" records go.

Funny, the contemporaneous reviews I've been able to find were...."mixed". It seems that "The Barbara Song" really...bothered people. Too slow or something. I love it, it's like virtuosos cough-syprup slo-mo big hairy spider music. And Wayne's gorgeous/genius "anti-solo" solo...predictive, imo.
