jazzbo Posted August 15, 2022 Report Posted August 15, 2022 Quite good. I haven't heard one with "bad sound." And I think I have them all. Quote

They've done Wayne and Herbie. Why not Hutch?!? I realize that Hutcherson isn't as well known for his compositions as those guys -- but one could easily come up with a varied and interesting list of his works that would be fascinating to hear. IMO, of course. Edited August 15, 2022 by HutchFan Quote

jazzbo Posted August 15, 2022 Report Posted August 15, 2022 Miles Davis "Miles in Berlin" Sony SR 9708. DSD mastered lp facsimile cd. One of the first recordings of Miles with Wayne in the Quintet. I love this version of "Autumn Leaves". . . there was an energy wth this new person in the group that comes through, and this mono recording is nicely balanced. Quote

jazzbo Posted August 15, 2022 Report Posted August 15, 2022 (edited) 1m “Miles Davis in Europe” Sony Blu-Spec CD Japan. This is one of the releases of this material with unedited performances and includes the great “I Thought about You” that was not on the original LP. (Covers for this release always say stereo, there were fake stereo LP versions but most every cd reissue is the original mono). Edited August 15, 2022 by jazzbo Quote

jazzbo Posted August 15, 2022 Report Posted August 15, 2022 (edited) Barney Wilen "Le Ca" Venus cd I have two other versions of this one, my favorite Barney Wilen--you can sense his joy and excitement of recording at Rudy Van Gelder's studio, or so I imagine. Barney gets a beautiful sound out of soprano, tenor and baritone and Rudy captured it very very well. Great rhythm section too! Simon8 Posted August 15, 2022 Report Posted August 15, 2022 Ah, yes, I thought about it (saw it a few months ago in used CD store here in Montreal) but as I already had most of Moncur's Blue Note output... Wonder why it hasn't been reissued as a single CD, it certainly would have its takers. Quote
