HutchFan, I did not know this one, but based on your current selections list I was able to get a copy and listen. I enjoyed it, but am perhaps not as enthusiastic as you about it. Nonetheless am glad to have a chance to hear it.

Harrell is a terrific player, but some of his recordings  veer off from the type of music I like best. A few of his early Criss Cross albums I like a lot.

Fair enough.  To each, his own.  :tup

Still something fishy about this one to me... Still seems that it sounds like it's swinging more than it is actually swinging?

Otoh, those heads are tight!

No doubt Morris Levy did something criminal with it.

Teddy Reig, but the problem (if it is one) happened before that. There's just no pocket and the tempos mostly sound like they're that way so everybody can skate.

Maybe this is Stan Getz as Sonny Stitt?

What are you implying by "something fishy"? Some fiddling with the speed of the tapes? How would that have been done so that the final results rhythmically weren't gobbledygook?

Mah, it just doesn't seem to be swinging or cool. just may medicated to make it seem that way.

In other words. It's, s got the air of a detached show to it.

Booker Little Quintet "Up Front" Candid stereo cd 2022

The last of the new four that I get to listen to one more on the way maybe next week). Best version of this stereo mix I've heard. I think for this session the mono mix is possibly as good.

Have the 2 ROOST vinyls. No complaint. Does the CD sound differently?

Bossarenova Trio "Atlantico"

My wife sang to me before she went off to work this morning, a treat I always enjoy--I love her voice. Made me want to hear another beautiful voice, so I picked this one for Paula Morelenbaum's--a real master of singing in several languages.
