I know. Do not misunderstand me - I could listen to all of his solos in a row and enjoy it immensely (Pres is my favourite tenor), it's just the themes that get a bit repetitive.

Kapingbdi - Don't Escape

This is a top notch West African jazz funk / afro beat record. I hadn't heard of it before and my socks are pretty knocked off by it. Any other suggestions in this vein would be very welcome.

Grant Green "Feelin' the Spirit" Blue Note Japan UHQCD

I have too many versions of this session but I LOVE it. Herbie is so good here, and Grant really seems to feel the music. This UHQCD sounds very good.

Yeah I love that record as well. I had the RVG but bought the Tone Poet anyway. Herbie is definitely standing out but the whole band is great.

Now listening to Love Dance (Muse, 1976), my favorite Woody Shaw album. Check out this insane band: Woody, Billy Harper, René McLean, Steve Turre, Joe Bonner, Cecil McBee (who is on fire!!!), Victor Lewis, and Guilherme Franco. Music bursting at the seams with vitality, totally "of it's time" but also timeless.
