That's a terrific album, glad the clouds parted for you. Sometimes it's just a matter of time, others it sneaks up I find

So, so true.  Sometimes, it's immediate, almost intuitive.  Other times, you've got to be more patient.

"Clouds parting" . . . I like that metaphor.  That's it.  Nothing else quite like it when the skies open up.  ;)

For me Fontana and Rosoline are my tb favorites. Always good to listen to.

Re: Julian Priester

Your post reminded me that this one is on my wantlist far too long - I found an affordable mint copy and ordered it. Priester is my favourite trombonist.

Can also recommend his album on Jazzland " Spiritsville".

Flim & The BB's – Big Notes

I'd never heard of this bunch until recently doing a run over historic jazz charts. Deservedly forgotten music.

I guess that it is the 1980s version of those stereo test LPs sold in the early hi fi era.

I actually prefer "Tricycle" but this one is OK too. It's not difficult jazz by any stretch but it's light & easy-going. I don't hear smooth jazz but it's not anywhere near hardbop either. Dick Oatts is the player that keeps my interest here. The keyboards/electronics don't do much for me but Ive heard much worse on some smooth jazz dates.

Woke up to the sad news and kept watching news all day on and off. My last choice tonight I was seeking for an involving escape.

The beauty of the source material and my thoughts drawn into the interesting arrangements and solos did the trick of calming my mind.

Yeah. The weirdest thing is that it isn't that bad. But it is wafer thin. And there's lots that should not really have made it to record. E.g. the track that is just the group playing the same thing over and over on different synth settings.
