Sometimes it's just a matter of time, others it sneaks up I find So, so true. Sometimes, it's immediate, almost intuitive. Other times, you've got to be more patient. "Clouds parting" . . . I like that metaphor. That's it. Nothing else quite like it when the skies open up. Quote

Priester is my favourite trombonist. Can also recommend his album on Jazzland " Spiritsville". Edited October 9, 2023 by jazzcorner Quote

Rabshakeh Posted October 9, 2023 Report Posted October 9, 2023 Flim & The BB's – Big Notes I'd never heard of this bunch until recently doing a run over historic jazz charts. Deservedly forgotten music. I guess that it is the 1980s version of those stereo test LPs sold in the early hi fi era. Quote
dougcrates Posted October 9, 2023 Report Posted October 9, 2023 Original LP. I'm not sure why I still own this record. Yikes. This is not my bag. Quote

It's not difficult jazz by any stretch but it's light & easy-going. I don't hear smooth jazz but it's not anywhere near hardbop either. Dick Oatts is the player that keeps my interest here. The keyboards/electronics don't do much for me but Ive heard much worse on some smooth jazz dates. Quote
jazzbo Posted October 10, 2023 Report Posted October 10, 2023 Woke up to the sad news and kept watching news all day on and off. My last choice tonight I was seeking for an involving escape. The beauty of the source material and my thoughts drawn into the interesting arrangements and solos did the trick of calming my mind. Planet D Nonet “Salute to Strayhorn” Quote

And there's lots that should not really have made it to record. E.g. the track that is just the group playing the same thing over and over on different synth settings. Quote
