No misunderstanding, we good. Just didn't agree with the critics, and I adore Richard Davis and Elvin Jones together, love it! And they like to smoke. Arguably, my favorite impulse! record jacket.

I meant the Penguin review was a misunderstanding 😁😂 ....

The snow stopped before dusk yesterday, but it’s cold! Hope the snow stays so that Lucinda’s great niece and nephew can throw it around when they arrive from Austin on Tuesday.

Starting off with
Harold Land “A New Shade of Blue” Mainstream/Solid Records Japan cd

All Land/Hutcherson sessions are great!

A few hours away from you, but we have snow, so you should too. Happy holidays! Harold Land is a treat  and any record with BN Hutch is worth grabbing, but you probably already know this. Cheers!

Happy holidays! My own family plans (which have been meager since both of my parents have passed) have sort of fallen through for reasons which I can't go into here, so I'm looking forward to those of Lucinda's family who have invited us (the non-MAGA wing). And hoping the Texans coming up have snow to enjoy.

Right now, another Land and Hutcherson confab:

Bobby Hutcherson “San Francisco” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary SHM-SACD

I love how they featured strong bass playing in their releases.

These new Kevin Gray mastered SHM-SACD sound wonderful.

Great one! So happy to have found a used copy. Hutch and Land made sense.

Classic Black & White Jazz Sessions” Mosaic Records cd II

Re-visting this fascinating set. I was born too late. . . I just love this music of my father’s tween and adolescent years and wish I could have been young when this was new. It just speaks to me!

I think that the CD that I posted is a comp of this record and another.

Jazzbo, thank you for sharing those personal thoughts, it gets hard around the holidays for me too. I lost both parents before I was 40, but so grateful my wife's parents are still here; a treat! They can be pains in the asses, but I wouldn't trade that in for anything. I wish you the best of holidays!

Have a great holiday. My wife's parents are gone too. Her father. . . well in 1967 he abandoned his wife and ten children and was never heard from or seen since! That's horrible way to be brought up (Lucinda was 9). . . and so different from my own upbringing. Her Mom passed four years ago. But one of her sisters lives close by and we havae begun celebrating the holidays with her family, their son comes in from NYC and he's a hoot and their daughter and husband and two kids come in from Austin and enjoy the cool weather. Those two kiddos are a trip! So we're going to hve some fun. . . these out of towners will be around for a week starting Tuesday.

Wow, woah! So glad to hear there is some joy still to be felt. The fact that your families blend like that is truly amazing; keep that going! May they enjoy the snow, and snowball fights!

A celebration to our parents; here and missed: First Snowfall-The Cliff Habian Trio-1998 Chilidog Records
