Bluesnik Posted August 15, 2020 Report Posted August 15, 2020 A nice EMI compilation of tracks from the BN catalog covering Burt Bacharach tunes. It's from the mid 90s and I think the whole series (I also have a Blue 60s) was commissioned by Dean Rudland from the UK. There are terrific covers by Stanley Turrentine, Reuben Wilson, The 3 Sounds and m.o. Quote
HutchFan Posted August 15, 2020 Report Posted August 15, 2020 Larry Young - Lawrence of Newark (Perception, rec. 1973) Wow.  I'm reminded again that this is a stinkin' BRILLIANT record, so clattery and cosmic and weird and fascinating. Even the (relatively) lo-fi audio recording seems to work in its favor, adding a veiled, mysterious quality. I've never heard anything else quite like it.  Quote
