I love the live albums of Woody Shaw. Carter Jefferson really was something. 
But as great as Larry Willis is, I like his later pianist Mulgrew Miller much more. It must have to do something with his touch, his sound and his lines or chords. And Tony Reedus on drums....

Been thinking of my Dad this week as I always talked to him about the news each evening his last few years. And boy is there news to talk about. So I’m starting today with this one:

It would be hard for me to choose between Larry Willis and Mulgrew Miller.  Miller is certainly more forceful. I consider him to be one of McCoy's "heirs."  Willis, on the other hand, is more lyrical, subtle.  In the past, Willis talked about his indebtedness to Herbie.

I love all of them.  :)
