HutchFan Posted July 26, 2018 Report Posted July 26, 2018 I'm just starting to dig a bit deeper into Carmen McRae's discography, but one thing that immediately leaps out is that she seems MUCH more at ease in a live setting. Today, I've been listening to two more of her live gems, "Live" & Wailing (1968) and Woman Talk: Live at the Village Gate (1966). Quote
felser Posted July 26, 2018 Report Posted July 26, 2018 This has always been for me the most satisfying by the Alice Coltrane/Pharoah Sanders version of the band. Quote
Bluesnik Posted July 26, 2018 Report Posted July 26, 2018 Another of those wonderful 90s reissues, Mostly Cuscuna led. Quote
John Tapscott Posted July 26, 2018 Report Posted July 26, 2018 (edited) Following a major purge and sale, I now have 100 LP's left in my collection. This is one of them and it's a dandy. Edited July 26, 2018 by John Tapscott Quote

duaneiac Posted July 26, 2018 Report Posted July 26, 2018 An excellent album which may get overlooked because it was not on a major label. An all-star cast of swing era vets proved they could still play it and mean it in 1957. "king Porter Stomp" may be my favorite track here. Quote
Bluesnik Posted July 26, 2018 Report Posted July 26, 2018 And now: One of the crowns of my collection. With Baker sometimes. Quote

Kate Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 My indoctrination. Life will never be the same. Today: Quebec, DC, Asbury Park. Starless & Sailor's box sets due in tomorrow, less than a week after receiving Red. If your heart still contracts, your lungs draw air, and your eyes open to daylight, then why would you not be listening? Took me 33 years; Christ's life span. My hope is for another 4+ decades to explore this catalogue. Quote
