I knew Mayo Smith only as long-time manager of the Tigers, including '68 World Series title. Had no idea he managed other teams.

Looks like Mayo's big league playing career consisted of only 1 season, so he must have been playing ketchup for the most part.

Is the dog they started with even a Dacshund? It's like they just matched up general color and went with it.

It's definitely a dachshund. Add white from age to the face and it's my own dog.

Yes, this breed of miniature dachshunds have sad little legs. They can dig like a dickens though.
