HutchFan
I was thinking jazz albums from the beginning of the LP era to the present. But if you would like to post a 78 RPM debut, go for it. (Just list the song titles on both sides. ) I'll start the ball rolling with: And, no surprise, I like this one too: And one more. A more recent release:

mjazzg
A couple contemporary examples Irreversible Entanglements - s/t Jaimie Branch - Fly Or Die And the one, Van Morrison - Astral Weeks. Anyone who doesn't consider it a Jazz album doesn't rate Richard Davis's central contribution. That's a hill I'll die on.

Thnx, obviously - due to the current Blue Note listening thread in another forum - I was focused on this label .... my bad .... nevertheless ""Black Fire" was his first important leader date .... Larry Kart
Also whichever of Herbie Nichols' Blue Note 10-inchers was the first. Depending on how you feel about Steig, but I think this was also Denny Zeitlin's debut: Not entirely sure if this was LaFaro's debut (he'd been a sideman with Buddy Morrow's band), but he was in sensational form on this one. Speaking of bassists, Russell Thorne!! Not only Russell's' debut but also perhaps his only commercial recording.
