What music did you buy today?

I found a copy of the Duke Ellington Centennial Edition for $147 on Discogs and it arrived just now.  I liked the Ellington in Order series that Sony launched last year and bought what they put out, except for one volume which was entirely duplicating material in the Mosaic small group and orchestra sets.  But they seem to have lost interest in the series.  I was also unhappy about the lack of any documentation, even just pages on a website, from the company.  Recently I've grown pessimistic about the continuation of Ellington in Order.  I came across this nice copy very cheap on Discogs.  It was a bit of a surprise getting it because I've never seen the set up close and some of the pics lead me to believe that it was a thick, cd-sized bundle.  It turned out to be a Mosaic-like box with a gigantic bound paperback book!

One of my favorite box sets of any genre. Congrats on scoring a copy!

Just like @ghost of miles, that box is one of all-time favorites, a desert-island set for sure.

When I saw the last vinyl copies sold for 400+ dollars and a cd copy popped up from a Dutch seller I decided to quit my quest for the LP and buy the cd. Contains an extra track as well

This arrived today.  I'm enjoying it. The box, CD sleeves and the book are cheap, underwhelming, and printed in tiny type but whatever, the music is great.

There's not a literal bargain bin.  The deals are mixed in with all the other stuff.

OTOH, you could sort by price to see the best deals.

 I was speaking figuratively. Their algorithm recommended a bunch of Delmarks (and variants) at $0.99 through $3.99. Selected one and then piggybacked more algo recommendations plus one that was on my watch list.

They do have clickable links for "Sale Items", "CD Deals" and "LP Deals" now. Scroll down a DG page and look under "Special Offers" in the left column. Warning: you can spend a lot of time and/or $...I guess that's why the sobriquet "The Bastards". 😁

Looks like they've recently modified the site a bit...IIRC the CD link used to be something like "CDs $8.99 or less".

For instance:

CD Deals (new/used, sorted ascending by price)

LP Deals (ditto)

Ok, I was wondering because the physical store has a literal "Bargain Basement". Literally some cut rate stuff that is literally in the basement. At least it did when my daughter was there last time. We shopped via videochat.

It's sort of an Island Of Misfit Toys and has never been listed on the website that I know of. Still isn't!
