Niko Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 (and a cold, headache and severe backpain for the first time in my live - people have always told me this backpain would come to me some day given that i am tall and don't do sports - We are renowned for our infectious colds in the UK. Everyone here is permanently full of them. Get well soon ! thank you! (guess it rather was my own stupidity, i was kinda nervous monday night because tuesday was quite an important day and in britain you have to step outside to smoke (and i am certainly not complaining about that...) so i spent a little more time outside than i should have that night...) (by now only the backpain is left ) bought today: Jackie McLean - Destination ... Out Quote

mikelz777 Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 (edited) I usually prefer an artist's early recordings and I had no Jackie Mac leader dates so I picked up this 6-CD box set containing 12 CDs worth of his pre-Blue Note releases. Edited November 10, 2007 by mikelz777 Quote

Thanks for that UPS tip. I was checking USPS.com and was wondering why my tracking number wouldn't show up. Looks like I should be recieving this the 13th. I'm looking forward to it! Mine's scheduled for delivery on the 13th, also. The "1Z" at the beginning of the tracking number tipped me off that it was UPS. Plus, I emailed the seller to confirm that it was UPS when the shipping notice indicated USPS, and it was not yet showing up on ups.com, and got the following response: "We always ship high value items via UPS." Great seller! Edited November 10, 2007 by Ron S Quote

DMP Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 You're right, they're both really good. And better than buying a third copy of some Blue Note reissue. Quote
Niko Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 got the to coltranes on the same day, too, iirc... coltrane's sound is my favorite coltrane record i think, didn't get too much out of my favorite things so far... in the mail today: Debut Rarities - Shafi Hadi Sextet Quote
AndrewHill Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Tony Oxley, "4 Compositions For Sextet" Is this the Columbia CD that was issued in the UK? If it is, you majorly scored! That one is as rare as hen's teeth! Quote
AndrewHill Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Today: Howard Johnson and Gravity: Right Now-Verve. Used for $6 Quote
AndrewHill Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 Well I decided to take advantage of the 40% off sale on cd's at Borders and picked up Kirk in Copenhagen for $7.50. Quote
DMP Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 Right, the Oxley is a UK Columbia (1999) - found it in the used bin at my local store, $8. It's all new to me, but looked interesting. Quote

If you don't have it already, hunt like a wolf for the Batised Traveler, which is the other UK Columbia released in that "British Jazz Reissue Series." Quote
