"Soulful Drums" is a great one! Don't have the other one, though...

Recent arrivals:

- Jimmy Heath - The Quota (Japanese edition, seems OOP in the US/Europe)

- Ella Fitzgerald - The Gershwin Songbook

- Johnny Griffin - Way Out

- Johnny Griffin - Sextet

and just ordered:

- Don Patterson/Booker Ervin - Legends of Acid Jazz

OMG MG this is a HUGE site! if you get a chance can you PM me some recommendations?

:)

Moments - that's like someone coming on this site and saying, "er, what jazz is good?"

I sent you a few things by pretty ladies - which do you prefer? Any of the stuff on the BFT you get?

The wife hit Virgin in Times Square for me last weekend and she got me:

Steve Lacy: Evidence

Don Cherry: Where is Brooklyn?

Ornette Coleman: To Whom who keeps a Record

Anthony Braxton: Three New Compositions of New Jazz (the Delmark one)

Don Ellis: New Ideas and How Time Passes

A pretty nice haul.

Don't have the Beauty is a Rare Thing Box, so the Ornette is largely functioning as 'new' music for me (do have Twins and Art/Improvisors though).

Itching to get these buggers

You can get 'em both on Fantasy twofers, LAL. Coupled with "Soulful drums" and "Brother Jack". PR24220 and PR24256. Maybe better value.

Thanks MG! I do have Soulful Drums, but it's still in the plastic wrap.

Nice batch. Those Griffin's are stellar...check out the track Catharsis on Sextet which features a blistering duet between Griff & Wilbur Ware (one of my favorite jazz "moments").

Today I opened up Gabor Szabo's Spellbinder, which was my Your Music queue selection from a few months back.

It's pretty good, but not great. Szabo's records had a unique sound, and I think he is more valuable for that reason than for what Spellbinder alone has to offer.
