The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 21, 2007 Report Posted December 21, 2007 It IS freezing. Not as bad here as in Scotland, I saw on TV this morning when I took a coffee in to my missus - -10C there. Geez ! I've put up with -55C in the frozen North and this feels colder ! Or maybe I've just turned into a Euro-wuss.. I expect we're getting old. Still seeing bright young things in miniskirts out shopping - and their legs AIN'T blue! MG Quote

The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 21, 2007 Report Posted December 21, 2007 The window cleaner came around a couple of hours ago. Now THAT is a job I definitely wouldn't want in this weather (well, I wouldn't want it any time, but especially not now)! MG Quote
Tim McG Posted December 21, 2007 Report Posted December 21, 2007 Clear and cool. High 40s today, low 30s tonight. Quote
sidewinder Posted December 21, 2007 Report Posted December 21, 2007 The window cleaner came around a couple of hours ago. Why is it mine turned up the day before the whole house was re-glazed? Quote
Free For All Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 It's actually COLD here tonight, probably down into the teens overnight. I have to say I'm lovin' it! I've been waiting for some good winter weather. It won't be here long, though. If it's that cold this far south, you northerners are probably REALLY cold! We're talkin' "hamster sac" cold! Quote

Tim McG Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Cool. Rain tomorrow...or so we are told. Quote
T.D. Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Below zero (Fahrenheit) tonight. Just got through two snowstorms, 7" and 9", about 2-1/2 days apart. Hoping for a big thaw soon, close to 50 degrees expected early next week. Quote
Free For All Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 doesnt this bring back memories? http://mansfieldnewsjournal.gannettonline....p;zipcode=44902 It sure does.......I remember some REALLY bitter winters in Chicago. I had some gigs in Fargo and Duluth (in January) some years ago, and it was RIDICULOUSLY cold. Like 100-below-zero wind chill, it just burned to try to breathe. Quote
T.D. Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Duluth in January...that's brutal. I shudder to even think about it. Quote

Edit: although temps in the 20s would be more to my liking, I'm not really wanting the thaw. I'd rather ski in the winter for once. It's gonna be a muddy mess come Sunday. MoGrubb Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) How's the weather? You wanna know how the weather is? It's fucking cold enough to freeze the brass nuts off a monkey's ass, that's how cold it is. It didn't get above freezing yesterday(contrary to all the weather reports), and it ain't out of the 20s yet right now. We'll probably get up in the 80s next week. Well, are you enjoying the first bitter cold temps in Tallahassee? I saw mid-20s this morning, there were snow flurries in central Florida, and 48 right now in Palm Beach county. See? I told you it would get cold in the winter. Quote
MoGrubb Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Northern Florida gets cold as you-know-what. I remember going to Florida for a gig when I was a kid, thinking, "Wow, Florida! warmth and sunshine." Sheeit, we had rain and sleet way past Jacksonville. 'Course, Cocoa Beach was nice. Quote
T.D. Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Still -4 (F) at 10:30. But the sun's out. Quote

Joe G Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 The nice thing about 2 degrees-above-zero is that when it hits, say, 13, I'm thinking hey, it's pretty nice out! Quote

MoGrubb Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Nothing like that Northern winter, e.g. crossing the street, thinking you're stepping on "solid" snow or ice, sinking up to your ankles in ice water slush. At least out West y'all have fairly dry cold, not too uncomfortable. The cold around here'll chill your bones. Quote

Isn't there anywhere in America where there aren't disasters waiting to happen (hurricanes etc) or horrid weather in the winter? MG Quote
