  1. CDUniverse methods of payment
  2. Haven't played this for a while (there's still an enormous pile of unplayed discs on the floor of my living room...), but I was very impressed when I first heard it. A great disc and, IMO, a much, much better album than Raining on the Moon, which I didn't like at all - sold that one right away.
  3. For overseas orders, it's $6.99 for the first disc and $1.50 for each additional disc.
  4. I just heard on the news that Johnny Cash has died. I don't have any details.
  5. This is very sad news, and very bad for democracy and freedom. Let's hope they'll get the lunatic soon.
  6. There's already a thread about these, including a link to Mosaic.
  7. For those who don't want or can't afford the complete 10CD Verve box, this 3CD-set might be a good alternative. Street date is October 21, and it can be pre-ordered now from CDUniverse for $34.99.
  8. So do I. I appreciated most of his posts and I'm very sorry he's left (this doesn't mean I changed my mind about his deleting his thread, though)
  9. Hm, I was more or less hoping for a report (taste, brand, vintage, after-taste / tongue, etc.)
  10. I didn't mean that he "legally" signed over his rights to the BB when he posted here; of course he didn't, and neither do we. It just seems to me that posts containing info like his could be regarded as being part of what a board like this is all about, i.e. providing information that every member has access to, a kind of "public domain", and that it feels wrong to delete them for whatever reason other than errors or incorrect information.
  11. I sent three PMs today and everything seems to be fine.
  12. While I see what you mean, I still think deleting his thread was a childish, narrow-minded and vindictive thing to do. Sure, in principle his posts are his intellectual property and he can do with them as he sees fit, but I also think that when posts contain information that contributes to and enchances the value of a BB (like many of his posts did), and when they are intended as such (as his posts clearly were), they cease to be one's property and more or less become part of that BB's "public domain". Besides, it might be argued that by deleting his thread he violated the intellectual property of others, whose posts in his thread were automatically deleted with it.
  13. Sold most of them, still have about 10 (early Monks, Powells, Blakeys)
  14. I think it was a pretty narrow-minded and childish thing to do
  15. I don't like jam sessions and blowing dates - well, I don't like most blowing dates. I agree with Templejazz's remark in his Coltrane Prestige thread, they're often too drawn out and rambling; to my ears musicians sometimes sound ill-matched, and most of the time I find sessions like these not very interesting.
  16. One of them can't come over here. B) ...And the other one doesn't want to B)
  17. That's why I wanted to check here on these sessions. I'm not usually a fan of the "blowing sessions" cuz I've heard a bunch that have fallen short of my expectations, ie too drawn out, rambling, lousy sound, etc. I'll check out some of the above recommendations though. Well, to be honest, they're not exactly my cup of tea - and that's an understatement...
  18. If you're used to the great Coltrane Atlantic and Impulse! albums, you'd better keep in mind that some of the Prestiges are typical 1950s blowing sessions with an "early" Trane, but it's needless to say, of course, that the Prestige albums with Miles are essential.
  19. Anyway, it's important that this great music will soon be available, not so much whoever mastered it B)
  20. Hm, I had a closer look, and the notes say "Ellen Fitton Mastered using 24-bit resolution by Malcolm Addey", whatever that means...
  21. The Mulligan set was remastered by Malcom Addey; that's a big plus in my opinion. I'm looking forward to that one. The Chambers looks promising, too.
