  1. This 5 cd set includes 3 concerts. Apparently somehow I missed its release in March but recently picked it up. Booker is in fine form. Comes with a 60 page book that is excellent. This is released on Richard Weize Archives the former owner of Bear Family Records. Not nearly as unhinged as he was on the Live Gonzo 1976 which is probably my favorite of his recordings. From what I can gather this is due to him sober during these sets. highly recommended.
  2. Oh that's a nice looking amp!
  3. Zankel had a couple records for CIMP or Cadence I don’t remember which that I really enjoyed. I will seek this out.
  4. I’m heading to Seattle/Vancouver and will keep an eye out

Excellent disc. I bought the cd from Amazon. The Asian Improv Bandcamp is more of Francis’ page than that of the label.
  6. I haven't gotten anything nor heard anything.
  7. Jacket states sq will improve after this first release. This was the sound engineers first time recording them.
  8. I might quickly go through a dollar bin. Maybe spend 2-3 minutes to see if it’s worth the effort. Usually it’s not. My biggest reason is why I don’t dig certain locations, I’m at a point where there has to be some organization for me to start. Preferably alphabetized, but at minimum by genre.
  9. For what it’s worth per medium: TRLP 18 — Jay Migliori — Jazz Down Beat — Unreleased — November 7, 1955
  10. I went for it also. Saves on shipping.

The band looks unamused. Pretty impressive recorder playing. Makes me wonder if I hadn’t given it up in the second grade where I could be
  13. Sound is good. There is info that the rest of the series sounds better, this was the engineer Bruce Bidlack's first recording of the group. It is a bit muffled but nothing to complain about. Musically it is excellent. Instruments are panned to one side or the other. Well worth supporting this project in the hopes it leads t the release of the complete run.
  14. My copy arrived today. Probably won’t get a chance to spin until Sunday maybe Monday.
  15. I should have qualified that I find it adventurous for Blue Note. But I still find them enjoyable and if "Free Jazz for Starters" what it is, call me a starter. I have no doubt your ear is far more advanced than mine and I'm okay with that.
  16. Ornette Coleman - New York Is Now! I probably haven't listened to this in 7-8 years but I'm spinning the Round Trip and have to say though a bit uneven still very adventurous. The set is in stereo and feel this recording may benefit from mono.
  17. Ornette Coleman - The Empty Foxhole from the Round Trip box set I recently bought during the Blue Note Spring Cleaning Sale
  18. Jeff Chan w/ Tatsu Aoki & Vijay Anderson - Perspectives and Francis Wong - Legends and Legacies II a follow up to his 2004 release Legends & Legacies.
  19. Francis Wong Trio w/ Tatsu Aoki & Chad Taylor - Early Abstractions There is a deep and strong love for Francis and Jon Jang in my heart for creating AsianImprov. This release, though not on the label is stellar.
  20. Tina Brooks - Minor Move
  21. Where can I find more information on BRIAN?
  22. Huh I’ve never had an issue. My order shipped the same day.
  23. https://store.bluenote.com/collections/spring-cleaning-collection-2023 Was surprised to see the Lee Morgan Lighthouse and Ornette Coleman sets at 40% off. I picked up the ornette since I only had New and Old Gospel already in an early cd issue.
  24. Limited to 250 copies. Pre-order Here This 2 disc set documents a legendary concert at the Immanuel United Church of Christ - November 26th, 1978. This is the first time that Nimbus founder Tom Albach had attempted to capture the Arkestra in their own environment and boy is it a doozy! About as raw and deep as it gets. Jesse Sharps here at the peak of his powers as Bandleader and Arranger, not to mention the playing, jeez.. this is a side of the Ark that has not been properly heard- until now… disc 1 JUNGLE JUICE (30:50) BALLAD FOR SAMUEL (21:29) disc 2 LATELY’S SOLO (24:44) IF YOU COULD SEE ME NOW (8:38) TO THE GREAT HOUSE (21:49) LIFT EVERY VOICE (1:58) 2CD SET in gatefold slipcase with notes by Tom Albach and Mark Weber - this will be the first in a series of releases documenting the entirety of the I.U.C.C. recordings looks like some vinyl is on sale as well.
  25. Used buyee for a couple Masabumi Kikuchi albums I wanted and it was very pricey.
