  1. I expect the owners to share profits fairly. The payroll tax is a negotiation of 1% to 3% which was a difference of 50 million. The revenue for MLB in 2021 was estimated at 4 billion. It seems to me like the pie is getting bigger and the slice for the players is getting smaller. Similar to what the NFL did last negations. I’m pro-labor so I am always about the labor getting their fair share. The numbers are so big a lot of people think the players are getting a fair cut because to those outside the league its more than we make.
  2. If I ask for $2 and they offer .50, asking for $3 next as a way of saying $2 is a minimum. It’s still negotiating. Negotiating does not require a reduction of request on $2. Especially if you want to cut jobs at the MiLB level.
  3. I’m of the mindset if you believe your labor is worth more than you don’t just bend over and take whatever is given. The turn on unionized labor in America is fascinating and sad to me. So many people in the work force are the labor and the sentiment that you should just take what you can get astounds me.
  4. Not sure why the players should make the biggest concessions, they are the reason there is a product, but I am a union man. With that being said I think it was expected that this would eat into the regular season on both sides and a reduced schedule is unspoken but welcome.
  5. Woof! 3.5g of tracking? Is that cart from the 60’s? That seems crazy high if it’s a modern cart. I think my ortofon is set to 1.75. I’d think about getting a new table or at minimum a new cartridge.
  6. That’s interesting. I have 0 expectation when rap is added to a jazz album which allowed me to be pleasantly surprised by the rap.
  7. I love Origami Harvest but I was immersed in hip hop the first 27 years of my life before ever getting into Jazz so I connected. As a reference, my true introduction to discovering jazz was Christian Scott’s album Anthem.
  8. RSD is nothing but flippers these days which is why it’s frustrating if you want to get a specific title. I’ve managed to get most of what I want afterwards online usually with no or minimal markup. I think the Dr.John Herbs release last year was the most I’ve paid over retail and it was about 15% which is worth it to avoid the masses to me.
  9. My guess is your local shop is now going to order an additional copy and if it comes they’ll sell it, if it doesn’t their copy will sell immediately to you. This is the benefit of having a good relationship with your local shop.
  10. Maybe just buy clothing or physical media

    RIP Syl Johnson

    Damn. An under appreciated musician
  12. Bill Withers - Naked & Warm Other than Live at Carnegie Hall this is my favorite Bill release. It's right there with Live. I don't know if it's because I have memories of listening to both as a kid or it's how funky the first half is. Plus City of Angels is in my opinion his finest song.
  13. Horace Silver - The Jody Grind got this as a filler in an order to take up space I guess. Its an original mono copy, assuming since they threw it in its not too valuable, but it is a Horace I don't have and after a spin on the record doctor it sound pretty darn good!
  14. On the first Friday of the month since March of 2020, we’ve waived our revenue shareto help support the many artists who have seen their livelihoods disrupted by the pandemic. Over the course of 17 days, fans paid artists and labels more than $70 million dollars, helping cover rents, mortgages, groceries, medications, and much more. If you’re among the nearly 800,000 fans who participated, thank you. It will likely be several months before live performance revenue returns in full. So we’re going to continue doing Bandcamp Fridays in 2022, on February 4th, March 4th, April 1st, and May 6th. As always, isitbandcampfriday.com has the details. If you’ve started to feel guilty about buying music on any day other than Bandcamp Friday, here’s something to keep in mind: on Bandcamp Fridays, an average of 93% of your money reaches the artist/label (after payment processor fees). When you make a purchase on any other day of the month (as 2.5 million of you have since March, buying an additional $190 million worth of music and merch) an average of 82% reaches the artist/label. Every day is a good day to directly support artists on Bandcamp!
  15. Rick Countryman - The First Bird (solo alto saxophone album)
  16. That’s insanely impressive. I could see doing that if I started from the beginning of collecting. I liked collectorz because I could add studio/venue, musicians and it was searchable. I also added the from and rear images to releases. The search for a new database has begun.
  17. I’m well versed in Excel. That is not what I want in a database.
  18. Yeah and if i teach myself to drill for oil and refine it into gas and I can stop going to the pump. Thanks for the insight
  19. Wonderful album by Masabumi Kikuchi, Ben Street and Thomas Morgan on bass and Krestin Osgood on drums followed by one of the best releasees I've heard in a while. Ming Bau Set - Yakut's Gallop which is Vera Baumann on vocals, Florestan Berset on Electric Guitar and Gerry Hemingway on Harmonica, Vocals and Drums. Absolutely captivating music.
  20. I just got a generic response from them when I inquired about comparability. Really disappointed. They didn’t even answer my question. The lack of full transfer to the cloud from the desktop platform is cause for me to stop using them. If the cloud platform was the same as the desktop I would stick with them.
  21. I’ve got over a decade investing in my collectorz. I knew I should have bailed when they started referring to it as the old transfer option. It had become spotty for a couple years and now just doesn’t work. It’s a real shame because it was such a good product before they wanted to find ways to milk people endlessly.
