  1. Big Bands of 1965-1979

I know this is out of the time frame (2005), but a great late-era Gerald Wilson. Worth checking out.
  2. I think Magnum is my favorite Gurus album!
  3. Big Ears Festival

Anyone at (or ever been to) this festival? It's one of the more interesting lineups I've seen anywhere. A wide variety of music centered in downtown Knoxville, TN. I'm seriously thinking of going next year. Big Ears
  4. Big Ears Festival

Hotel booked, but holding off on the plane to see if fares drop in the next few months
  5. Mo Ostin, R.I.P.

This was a pretty interesting Obit, too
  6. Ozric Tentacles – Space For The Earth (The Tour That Didn't Happen Edition)
  7. That Clifford set has turned into a nice investment. Current value according to Discogs: Lowest: $80.99 Median: $140.00 Highest: $199.99
  8. How's the weather?

We're doing GREAT here in SF
  9. I don't follow Formula 1, but does anyone here follow SailGP? It's the "Formula 1" of sailing. Extremely high tech sail boats 'foil' above the water allowing them to go MUCH faster than any existing sailing technology. Very addicting It's a Grand Prix concept with races staged all over the world and points are awarded depending on where they finish. Check out their website or watch the races which are archived on YouTube
  10. Wow! Interesting they seem to be emptying the classic BN catalog now. I might go for this one.
  11. Nice grunge/pop from this female duo
  12. Surf guitar

Great surf piece by NY alt-rock legends Yo La Tengo
  13. Agreed. That Marianne Faithfull album is special.
  14. Big Bands of 1965-1979

Don't forget Woody Herman. He put out some high energy albums in the early 70s on OJC. Giant Steps might the be best of them. MF Horn 4&5, Live at Jimmy's was a really good live album. You can feel the energy in this set. Gerald Wilson has been mentioned a couple of times. The Pacific Jazz stuff (especially the Mosaic box) was great, and there is a live set included.
  15. I'll have to check out Lunafied!
  16. Well ... he DOES play it a lot!
