Noticed some Uptowns above. A number of their releases were recorded in obscure venues, for instance

I don't recall seeing any others from The Flamboyan.

This one's from the Lark Tavern in Albany:

There's the memorable Tristano/Konitz recording from the Confucius Restaurant in Manhattan!

Only one I know of from that venue.

I'm not sure if this venue counts as a jazz club, but

Yes, the Pazant Brothers also recorded there.

But it didn't seem to fit with the thrust of the original post's idea.

Which put me in mind of this Jimmy Ponder album, Live at the Other End, which had once been the Bitter End.

I always miss this looking through CDs, because it comes before his Muse CDs.

Where's the Living Room? The Three Sounds found there way, so it can't be too difficult a question.

I think somebody recently posted the Kohlhase disc on the Listening thread.

There is an excellent jazz club here in Vienna called Porgy & Bess. The sound there is excellent and some of the recordings made in the club saw commercial release:

Speaking of Chicago nightclubs, when I was there this summer, I saw the London House.  I understand that they no longer book jazz, but I immediately thought of recordings made there back in the day by Oscar Peterson and Tyree Glenn.

Were there other live recordings from that club?

The Three Sounds, Today's Sounds (Limelight)

I can't tell you how excited I was to stumble across this LP back in the 90s or early aughts, simply because the other Limelights had odd orchestrations surrounding the trio, additions that only occasionally worked very well. So a live set of just trio was great, even if they did cover "Mohair Sam". :g

Hey, but he's the hippest cat who is what at!  Hardly the most unlikely tune they ever played, nor the worst performance.

Live at the Living Room was another without an overlay of slush. I haven't got the London House album.
