I think I joined in early September 2003, after lurking here for months. I was active on the All About Jazz forums at the time, and when suddenly a lot of new members showed up who seemed knowledgeable about jazz were also discussing this new board, I eventually joined here since there the discussions here were so much more lively and informative than at AAJ. I did manage to meet Jim and the band, Chuck and the guy who used to be named connoisseurseries500 (Paul, maybe?) at one of their shows in Ann Arbor, which was a lot of fun! I have very little time for any forum anymore, and I can't find much time at all to listen to music as much as I used to. I do try to check in here at least once or twice a week though
I just checked that I joined this board on March 12, 2003, having also previously joined AAJ forums, where I stayed and posted regularly for some years.
Nowadays I am not the regular poster here that I used to be, but, of course, I am still proud and happy to be part of this community. And hope to be here for another (nearly) quarter of a century.
Daniel I too am very worried about the state of the world and it influences how I view bulletin boards. I pay more attention to one thread on another forum, and that community means a lot to me, helps me to cope with the worry and frankly anger I feel. I worry so much for my young neices and nephews (including -in law) and what their future will be like--I totially understand the importance you place on raising your kids and your worry about their reality ahead. I've always enjoyed your posting.
