Chick Corea's "Is" sessions were the first time I heard him in such a context - still very much worth hearing: IMHO his playing was a little too busy to be one of my favourites. But I love the Directions and Special Edition albums. Saw him live twice with these groups. and it was great. Unfortunately the last time I saw him, in a trio with Foday Musa Suso and Jerome Harris, he seemed kinda uninspired, playing routine grooves instead of trying to sound a little more "African". Foday Musa Suso was great, really leaning into the music, but Jack played like he was watching the performance from his favourite tv sofa.

If my understanding is correct, Craft is a division of Concord, and Concord currently owns the Muse catalog (which they've criminally neglected, in typical Concord manner).

Did you get a bill for the tariff after delivery?

It's in San Antonio not Austin, so 250 miles away. -
This second disc sounds as good as the first and I love the music and vibe! Francisco Mora Catlett “Afro Horn MX” Aace 2 cd set, disc 2

The first three issues in this series were LP only. I'd assume this will be the same.

Since Buster Williams is featured so extensively in this duo setting, this album is a "must-hear" for anyone who enjoys his sound, his playing. I can't get enough of it. And Kenny Barron is wonderful too, of course.

Agreed. Love Dance is one of my desert-island discs.

Love Dance probably my favorite Shaw 😍 already have the original so I”ll pass but great to see this music gets a reissue.

This is a really good album. Bill Holman's arrangements fit perfectly with Zoot. The arrangement of the tune "Main Stem" is simply outstanding. As to be expected, Zoot's solos are terrific, and we also get a few very nice solos from Frank Rosolino.

Next two are: Joe Chambers - Double Exposure Woody Shaw - Love dance This is from an ad in the digital version of the next issue of Downbeat. Great choices!

I only now realize that Catalysts Perception isn’t part of these series but is coming out in the excellent Jazz Dispensary series by Craft. So apparently the Muse catalogue is open to more parties. Great news

Given the lack of action we’ve seen from them on constitutional issues I don’t hold my breath.

First Sound Life Fest Kingston, NY November 15-16th Lace Mill
T.D. replied to cliffpeterson's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Damn, that's right about the 15th, thanks for the reminder. I overlooked the Ted Daniel event. But the Lace Mill is half the travel, so that's probably what I'll go for. -
