  3. I've been watching an Italian tv show (set in beautiful Genoa) on PBS Passport called Blanca. It's part of the Walter Presents group of European tv shows; each episode is two roughly 50 minute parts. This follows a standard police/detective show concept where the protagonist has a super power, like Sherlock Holmes and his power of deduction, Monk with his obsessive attention to detail, etc. Blanca, a police consultant, is blind and has super hearing power. So it's kind of a formula but the scripts, acting, cinematography are way above the usual. Attractive people and a very nice dog. Beautiful interiors and outdoor scenes. It's a great show! If you know Spanish after a while the Italian dialogue is fairly easy to follow.
  4. I'm perfectly ok with Spotify. You have to register and establish an ID and password but it's free and there is no obligation to subscribe to anything or receive emails, etc. I never use it to scout out new things to listen to. I use it to find and listen to an album I can't find on youtube. Both of them suck because of advertisements but they are better than listening to radio for my purpose because I can choose the albums and tunes to play. For discovery of music new to me I will sometimes click on recordings that come up alongside whatever I'm playing on youtube but mostly I just read this forum. Generally I use these services to listen to an album before buying - my music budget is limited.

  6. So reading this, it seems mostly a nuisance and I don’t get why people are getting really mad about it (rather than just mildly annoyed) Lets say something comes on that pretends to be Nat Adderley but is obviously not him… you can just skip the track! Fwiw, I strongly agree Spotify should stop this kind of thing
  7. That's the exact reason for starting this thread. 🤗
  8. I'd believe you any moment it was "a bear": But did those photobucket overlays HAVE to be in there? THEY make part of the reading a chore. To the best of my knowledge there is no need for anything like this if you just upload a scan jpg or pdf file.

  11. - Coltrane (sort of) label-mate situation. ??? - Philly connection. ??? - Tenor sax not primary instrument. ??? Crazy nightmare.
  12. I'm somewhat surprised that Esteban has such a limited social media presence. I get that some of the sites, like Facebook, have lost a lot of followers due to the proliferation of AI BS all over it, but you need to have some way to let people know when & where you're playing or else no one can buy tickets. He even allowed his web domain to expire.
  13. I haven't seen Esteban Castro perform, but I'll watch for his name in the future. Young piano masters seems to be a thing throughout history. They crop up time & again going back to Mozart. BTW - one of his recent Smalls' performances is up on You Tube & their website. Free to watch: I believe the second set is up here too. https://www.smallslive.com/events/31534-esteban-castro-trio/
