Certainly very intriguing and overall positive news. I'm particularly interested in this Mapleshade Mystery Session series. Thanks for passing it along!

Received the following information in an email from the current owner: Last fall, I [Eldon] began working with Paul Gold at Salt Mastering to restore and create new 24/96 transfers of Mapleshade's tape archive. The tapes are coated with varying amounts of residual soot, dirt and mold from the 2007 studio fire, but all of the ones Paul has worked with thus far still have good integrity and were able to be successfully cleaned and transferred. We have three reissues nearing completion so far: The Blue Rider Trio Preachin' The Blues: This album is especially close to my heart because it was my introduction to Pierre's recordings, played for me during my Mapleshade job interview. If you like acoustic blues, this album is really enjoyable and the recording is fabulous. The new transfer is even more nuanced, bringing out lovely details in Ben's voice and Mark's harmonica. The original album has been out of print for years. It was reissued in 2007 as part of the Blue Rider Trio's Early Morning Blues 2-CD collection. Free MP3s are available here: https://shop.mapleshadestore.com/product.asp?itemid=1076 Jack Walrath & Larry Wills with Steve Novosel Portraits In Ivory and Brass: The original 1994 CD release of this gorgeous, evocative collaboration between Jack and Larry was heralded as one of Pierre's best recordings for good reason. The new transfer sounds a bit warmer, the piano and trumpet overtones are more refined and spacious, and the attack and resonances of Novosel's bowed and plucked bass are more present and nuanced. You can hear free MP3s of the original CD here: https://shop.mapleshadestore.com/product.asp?itemid=1147 Norris Turney Quartet Big Sweet 'N Blue: Best known as the alto player Ellington found to replace Johnny Hodges, Norris Turney was sadly unrecognized in his lifetime. Originally released in 1995, this album was co-produced by our late Music Director, Larry Willis. He enlisted Walter Booker and Jimmy Cobb to accompany Norris for this session, some consider the resulting album a jazz and audiophile masterpiece. Here are free MP3s from the original CD: https://shop.mapleshadestore.com/product.asp?itemid=1145 We also have several new releases in production: Jack Walrath Triceratops: This is a really fun, energetic trio session recorded in 2006 that was a pending release scheduled to be mastered before the fire. Cheekily subtitled 'Three Horned Face,' the trio features Jack on trumpet, Jedd Levy on tenor sax, José Davila on tuba with Larry Willis sitting in for the last two songs. Clifford Jordan & Co. Mapleshade Mystery Session Vol.1: Pierre and Clifford were friends and the tenor sax giant recorded extensively at Mapleshade during the late '80s and early '90s. The edited master tapes for this four-song album were simply marked "CJ & Co." and the sequenced song names were written on the tape reels with no date, location, or information about the band. We haven't learned anything more about this session but the music is too good to collect dust any longer. Thus, Mapleshade's Mystery Session series was born and the "CJ & Co." album will be its inaugural release. The Elbow In Your Eye Sessions: In 1999, Pierre recorded five of my favorite local punk bands for a compilation that never came to fruition: Crispus Attucks, The Fuses, The Goons, The Knuckledrags, and The Thumbs. I was excited to discover the original session tapes survived the studio fire and am working with the bands to release these recordings for the first time. As you should expect from Mapleshade — no mixing boards, overdubs, noise reduction, compression, multitracks, EQ or reverb were used for these pending new releases and reissues. They will be available on most major digital streaming and download platforms in the coming months; we'll provide updates once firm release dates are available for each album. -- Eldon Baldwin Mapleshade Recordings

On a valve trombone little bender (!). Didn't know Horler: gorgeous sound (here with fellow trombonist Nuss).

I agree. 😎 One of the best shows on television IMO. You need to watch all of the seasons.

Los Corraleros – Esta Sí Es Salsa! Not really Salsa, or "Salsa" in the earlier sense of generalised Spanish Carribbean big band format music.
