I must admit I like his second Muse album a lot for the mood it creates. Roy Ayers fits perefectly here.

Whenever I hear the smooth jazz of the past decades up to current times, I hear Desmond influence all over those sax players. Whether the players themselves would cite him or not I have no idea. Take Ten to me is a proto-smooth jazz record.

Thanks for linking this. It confirms what I think about why someone with a straightahead jazz attitude may not like or understand Brubeck.

I wouldn´t say it was a bad year 2025. Serena had schizofrenia and I´m sure that voices had told her to leave me, and maybe always seeing imanginary persons and hearing imaginary voices just exhausted her to an extent that she simply laid down and died..... she was not suffering, she looked like a sleeping angel. And in her strange moods she just had told me in march that it´s over, and when I fell in love with Andreea Irina in June, in a lucid moment she smiled at me and said that she´s happy I am in love again. I had a big birthday party in december in a jazz club (where else you might find me partying 😄), playing a concert with my band, and after getting the vegane cake I made a short speech where I stated, that whatever had happened, it was the most beautiful year in my life ! Sure it was painful, but it is better so, and what should I wish more: I´m healthy and have the condition of a guy at 30 told the doctors, I have the most beautiful girl in the world, and I create music and already must plan my next album, to fulfill the contractual conditions and to create more music, you never stop, you never look back. The album came out just on Friday and it´s over.....I look what I´ll do next. But I would love and appreciate it if you all take some time for me, to listen to the album and since you all jazz buffs, please let me know what you think about it. When I play live I appreciated the kind applause, here I might appreciate your feedbacks......

I have learned over many years, that the role of one's spouse in selecting audio equipment (especially speakers) is crucial. Back long ago when buying my Magnepan speakers my wife had see them. She was not convinced about the Magnepans due to the very large size. But after hearing them in a great listening room in a stereo shop, she agreed that the sound was so damn good that she supported my getting them.

While its not really my favorite Mobley, it should be noted that we can thank Schlitten for the documentation of the Cedar Walton - Hank Mobley Quintet on Breakthrough! which sadly did not breakthrough to keep the band a going concern. Anyone else a definite yes on the Schlitten photography book? I am only holding off on a pre-order because I don't want to pay up front right now - although Amazon at $49.99 and the publisher at $49.99 suggests that the price isn't going to get better than it is right now. https://www.fantagraphics.com/products/love-and-understanding-the-jazz-photography-of-don-schlitten?srsltid=AfmBOorTUdNY8QXY6sETJTRLDf-807tEPsq1H7nvUfuNp-6TiIYZsNT4&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBEyWFE2ZjB4dUFBdTdFQnRUcnNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR4v2SC7DtKlXG7LWiYpKBxEYRh1IKBsLfDMjAML2DmuUeiBG84hjmGdubH14g_aem_36yPWZqXdscuyGnoHFwAUg

RIP. His work with Xanadu is legendary snd I have a lot of his work in my collection. Beautiful homage by Zev.

TPs should be for BNs, Pacific and associated jazz labels, which focus on instrumental music. In my view Sinatra doesn’t fit the bill. UMG could start a separate branch for Sinatra and other popular singers of the day.
