Oh, definitely better than Phoenix. Like light years better. -

That's good. The last two times I was in the states was Chicago, which, exploration wise, is more or less like a European city, and Phoenix, which... wasn't. I'd assumed that San Diego would have been more like the latter, so that's good to know. -

I had forgotten this was the first RCA release by Desmond, putting him in a much different setting than a quartet setting, probably a smart move but time has proven this to be less discussed than those that followed on RCA. I like this though, and yet. . . even with Jim Hall. . . I miss the blend of Desmond and Brubeck, it’s like sweet and sour, or just the right blend of spices in a curry. I'm all too familiar with that. Public transport there was good the last time I went. Buses were dependable and the drivers were friendly when help was needed but that was all pre COVID. -
There are some interesting recordings on the Entropy Stereo label. I recently discovered Griot Galaxy / Faruq Z Bey, so much of the catalog got my attention. I noticed these on DG's website but ordered direct from the label, which has free shipping on CDs. Their website is worth perusing: https://entropystereo.com/catalog.html (Griot Galaxy Live at the DIA - 2 cd)

You should be fine. The LP set will likely disappear before the cd set.

Understandable. Good album! -
A few years ago, my son picked up this album in a thrift store and then gave it to me: LP 1

Thanks. It will be work and the usual dread conference centre that follows these things in some US cities, but I'm hoping to get out and about. -
Understood on all counts. It's just that in terms of contexts, that cut is a bit of an outlier?

Been to SD several times and love it (Point Loma seafood is excellent) but never record shopped. I see online they seem to have some good places. Hopefully accessible during your visit. -
Prompted by @jazzbo's post above: The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Art Blakey's 1960 Jazz Messengers (Mosaic, 1992) Disc 3: This disc contains (most of) the tracks released on Roots & Herbs, along with a few others.

Your wife has good ears! I may have purchased a pair of Magnepan speakers if circumstances were different. They do indeed sound amazing. But, since they are so large, they really don't fit in my room.
