GRP was a weird label. You never knew if you were getting smooth jazz or just plain jazz, even if the artists involved were skewered one way or the other. This looks like a good one though.

Classical Jazz Quartet - Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker (Vertical Jazz). Stefon Harris (vibes), Kenny Barron (piano), Ron Carter (bass) & Lewis Nash (drums). Very well done. -

No idea what the science is, but I have corrected innumerable glitchy CDr s (and regular CDs) simply by ripping them on my PC. Not always, but mostly Where you hit a wall is if there's any irregularity, even a pinhole, in the reflective surface on the top of the disc. That's game over. Aftermarket self-applied labels are especially insidious that way. Avoid at all costs!

A warm day–55 degrees right now! I was outside doing a few chores, and Lucinda had a PT appointment we went to. Finally I get to sit down in front of the system for a bit. I dug this 2 cd set out this week to listen to, it’s been a while. A killer band. . . I sort of think the two synth players are a bit unnecessary, but if Stan wanted them why not. Supposedly the last recorded concert for Stan. Stan Getz “The Final Concert Recording” Eagle cd disc 1

Not at all to my taste. I will gladly stick with Byrd's albums I like such as: "The Cat Walk" and "Byrd In Flight", to name just 2 from the many he made in the '50's and '60's.
