Duke Ellington and his Orchestra “Live at the Plaza, Volume II” Columbia LP Recorded in 1959, released in 1973. This was recorded at a party for the record label at the Plaza Hotel. (The first “volume” released was the Miles Davis Sextet’s performance). I love that Jimmy Rushing and Billie Holiday each do a guest vocal here.

January got away with me, but enjoying catching up with this one now. I'm actually digging the Sanborn (for what it is). And time listening to Warne is always time well-spent.

Sullivan Fortner, Southern Nights

I had forgotten about this expensive cd I ordered from Japan* until I saw a picture posted showing someone else was listening to it. I think I only played it once before, I like it, I like Jose James, a cool singer. This one is sort of a tribute to Erykah Badu, with a cover reminiscent of one of Alice Coltrane’s album covers. Jose James "On and On” *Of course now I see that amazon has it much less expensively. Ah well.
