I think that run OOP quite quickly. Well I don´t have it but seeing the tunes, anyway it´s the music I heard him play live in those years, maybe not the Antabus or what it is, which anyway is a c-minor blues. Interesting! I have it but dont spin it often. Somehow I have the impression that it is not really Mingus the way I was used to hear him. And somehow in the liner notes, the way they listed the solo orders is very strange.

I´ll be 67 in december but feel younger than I felt with 47, more feel like 37. Had many mental issues, but they did not affect my rejuvenating. Had to change EVERYTHING I ever did, EVERYTHING. Got rid of my image coudn´t stand it any more. Started to eat only vegan food some years ago. Anyway, alcohol is something I never even taste, I can´t even smell it ! Threw away all my wardrobe, it looked to "straight". I was never fat, but now I am slim like a nail, have long curly hair, had some little estetical chirurgical intervention to make my face more beautiful. Wear only black stuff, usually goth, dark punk style and love young people. Years ago, when I rode the subway, sometimes, polite younger persons let me sit down and I happily accepted. Now, nobody would offer me a seat, and if I seat it can happen that people who sure are years younger than me might snarl at me to stand up. I love that. Nobody says "Sir" to me, nobody uses anymore the romanian politeness form of "you" (nobody says "dumneavoastră” all say „tu” what you say to youngsters. Life became really exiting, I do a lotta partying (can stand up all night while youngsters, maybe because they drink some beer fall asleep), and my blood parametre is of a guy of 30 years. Not bad. Life is beautiful, gals that could be my grandchillun ask me where I buy my outfit, you easily get in conversation. I am a bit crazy, dont pretend I wouldn´t be, but it feels better than too normal. And the °fruits° of my complet changing (I even changed my name completly, only keep the old name as artists name), soon happened: Last year in June playing a gig I met the most beautiful girl I ever saw in my whole life. Since then, we together. I don´t need my old life back.....

V-Disc Big Band Set Is Coming!!!
AllenLowe replied to JSngry's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
never mind....just figured it out - -
Beyond any doubt! The sound of the two Mosaic i fantastic, I’m just listening to the big band’s one for the fourth or fifth time. But I remembered that a million years ago I purchased the jasmine (and the Ellington) and I was curious. In effectvthe sound is terrible; a pity for the Duke, most of all. Thanks.

One hell of a legacy left and life lived. A running thread through UK jazz for so long. 'Westbrook Blake' is one of the most moving live experiences of any art form I have seen. If he'd only done that it would've been a major contribution but he did so so much more.

This is extremely sad to hear - but Mike was 90 and was active musically right up to the end. I saw a couple of the last gigs - Lyme Regis in 2024 I think and Torquay last December with his 'Band of Bands'. Both occasions memorable. First time I saw him was on the 'Art Wolf' tour late 90s I think, to my mind this was one of his and Kate's best projects. I also saw gigs with the Rossini orchestral group, the trio with Chris Biscoe doing 'Love or Infatuation', the 'Village Band' and the Devon-based big band with Lou Gare, Dave Holdsworth and Alan Wakeman, including their recording of 'A Bigger Show'. Such an imaginative musical mind. May he RIP and condolences to Kate and the Westbrook family. I hope Kate continues with performances of Westbrook alumni. Richard Williams posted a good obit for Mike in the Guardian:https://www.theguardian.com/music/2026/apr/12/mike-westbrook-obituary

Not sure - but they were on the scene in NYC around the same time. Levister did that single LP for Debut - 'Manhattan Monodrama'.

Zenato makes some great wines. My favorite one is the one they make after they make their Amarone. After the press the dried grapes to make their Amarone, they press regular Valpolicella grapes on the skins from the Amarone grapes. They call it a "Ripassa" and it has that Amarone flavor profile at about 1/3 of the price. I call it "baby Amarone". https://buywinesonline.com/collections/zenato/products/zenato-ripassa-valpolicella-superiore-2021-750-ml -

My guess between the 2 Mosaic box set most of them are overlapped. The Jasmine appears to have a few more of the small group sessions. But, without a doubt the sound quality on the Mosaics is no contest hands downs way superior. I would hardly count the Jasmine as really having the V-Disc recordings anymore.

Looking forward to season 5.
